Join the Nepali New Year 2059 celebration in Denver on April 13th, 2002 at Thomas Jefferson High School in South Denver. It will be one of the better ones in US, based on my previous experience. Drawing Contest, Nepali food provided by a nepali restaurant and cultural show (last year's was superb) by local talents will be some of the attractions.

Yepp! it was a fabulous show last year. It's a shame that they are even making the performers buy tickets. I think it's not fair to those people who's practicing so hard for the show.

Actually it is very sad that performers are being charged. But there are few issues involved with that though. First of all where do you draw the line between performers vs non performers as there are a lot of people involved to put the program together. It is a community program, so the involvement is huge. And even if it is 100 people involved, it is a significant chunk of money we are talking about. It is a huge expense to put together a program of that level as venue and food costs are pretty high. Organizers did try to compensate the performers in different ways last year, may be there will be some this year as well.

One of the bands that played last year are close friends of mine. I don't think that the organizers tried to compensate in any way. In fact, they charged them last year too for the ticket.
They should do like Seatle did. Charge everybody, members non members, except the people involved in cultural program since they have to prepare themselves ahead of time.

I know handful of people who didn't pay last year. What are your plans for those CHEAP people?

Last year, performers of the cultural program were provided snacks on most of the practices. There were couple post program parties they were invited to. Video cassette of the program was also provided to each of the individuals who performed in the cultural program. I know it may not be a lot, but I'm pretty sure everybody did not get any of those benefits. Besides, it is a community event. Nobody is trying to make money out of it. It is done all in a good spirit. And those people who got in without paying, is there any evidence on who and how? No names need to be given but just some description so that it won't happen this year.
