Did Buddha die of eating pork????

SPJi:

Where did you read this blasphemous argument? As long as I know,
Buddha was always a vegetarian. He also expounded his belief
on 'Ahinsha' everywhere he went.

However, it would be nice to know why (some) people think the
way you mentioned.

Buddha died of eating wild mushroom.

Someone asked me couple of days ago if I knew the answer. As far as I knew I always believed that Buddha renunciated his life in a state of meditation.

A lookup for "how did buddha die" in a popular search engine Google http://www.google.com/search?q=how+did+buddha+die gives various links with info on Buddha's death on eating pork.

For some reason, this just does not sound right! Would the group, which was posted in this site couple of days ago regarding working on straightning out "birthplace of Buddha" in media, help to clear up this issue as well?

MS and SP ji:

There are always some wild psychologically disturbed persons who
love to expound some funny, wackoish stuffs for self-satisfaction
and I guess the reasoning may have sprung from the same kind of
people.

There were yet some other persons who claimed Krishna died of
Aids.I have also met a few persons, who tried to reason with me
that USSR supplied Vietnam weapons through a tunnel dug below
the Chinese land in Vitnam-USA war.

Arguments are fine, but a few of these arguments can be ignored
without any deliberation.Again, if some of us wants to believe
those silly stuffs, or wants to look at them, that is also not
totally objectionable thing to do.For me, and I hope for you
also, Buddha's lessons are more important, and deserve more
attention than whether he himself sullied them at the end of
his life.

There is no harm discussing over the topic that you are not clear and I read the same thing over the internet that Buddha died after consuming pork and still I am not so sure what is the fact.. anybody throw some light on it.

SRJi:

I agree.

But a lot of people (devout Buddhist specially) may find this
ridiculous, and probably sacrilegious.I also read a part of
the article on Buddha's death, but I think,in Hindu Nepal or India
or wherever, pig was not a food for Brahman or Kshetri.

Biswoji,
I disbelieved it myself before, and I still disbelieve it after reading those articles in the web. But, how come it's hard to come across anything - besides the pork/mushroom theory - that sheds light on how Buddha died?
