Looking at the current situation in nepal, i suppose we all have asked ourselves the question "what can be done to get nepal out of the situation that its in" or "IF anything can be done about it"

by current situation i mean the maoists' "movement AGAINST the people". We saw that police alone was not sufficiant to contain the maoists. then the next available option was the army. and even the army(under the deuba govt.) has not been effective enough to stop maoist bloodshed. killing of the innocents, their destroying of the whatever resoucres we have got left. negative impact of their actions on the economy and education etc. and given the way the govt is combating the maoists, it is my belief that maoists are here for the long haul. at some point, one has to give in otherwise the killings and terror will continue for years to come. say the govt. is able to rid the maoists, whats next? the govt. will go back to its usual self which is not a good option at all. therefore a revolution is must for nepal. not the kind of revolution that the moaists are carrying out, however. or we can give in to maoists's demands and let them have a go at it. is that an option?

like gandhi's "experiment with truth", i belive that last 12 years have been an "experiment with democracy" for nepal. it has yet to find its balance. sort of a Nash equlibirum if u may. so maybe we are being too impatient when we look around and observe the things that are happening and want immediate solutions. maybe we are asking too much from a country which is just starting to stand up on its own. history has taught us that nations go through difficult times when they go through some major changes. Just look at the american civil war and the price paid there.

i belive that maoists are not simply to be ignored and cannot completly be gotten rid of. there will always be maoists in one form or another as long as the govt. does not change for the better. but we do not seem to belive that either one is capable to run the country. we can tell with great certainity that with the current govt. we do not see any future for nepal. i think we have witnessed that and the way maoists are doing things, i do not see any potential in them either. so there needs to be a third party. not the parties we have already seen. we neeed a "people's movement" in the true sense of the word. nepal has remain peaceful for too long and at the expense of those poor and oppressed ones. so its no surprise that we are in the current situation that we are in. its only natural. and now that we are here, we panick. but i still belive that things can change. but immediate solution is possible only if the hearts of those that are in power and those running the "movements" change. if they can look beyond their own self intrest and do something only then somethign constructive can happen. otherwise, another revolution is a MUST for nepal.

Hi,

The uprising against the British, by 1776, carried out the "American Revolution" in US. It established a new World.

Whatever arguments that Maoist put forth for justification of so called people’s war never make sense for the Nepalese people. The killings by Maoist are unjustifiable and condemnable.

What is the long term solution of Maoist problem in Nepal? This question is severe because there is not any implementation of policy of defeating Maoist long term. The effort of RNA and its legitimate killings have time limitation. RNA is not a self active body. It has to have mandate to be mobilized its "jawan". If RNA do not get parliamentary mandate for using its strength against Maoist for next, what will be the next in Nepal? We just can assume that the Maoist will carry out other deadly attacks against RNA. In the aftermath, there will be a solid victory of Maoist.

To avoid this type of hazard, we must think of coup and it is the only way to wipe up the Maoist. NC and UML have to leave the political arena. They are the cause of the ruin of Nepal, and Maoist took advantage of their irresponsibility.

I do not see another option besides a third party take over or a new "movement" either. The killing of the Maoists by the governement and the government's killing of the Maoists does not solve anything unless the ones on top are gotten rid of.
