Kathmandu, April 10 – The United States has announced US$ 4 million grant to Nepal to fund the implementation of programs for the betterment of children rescued from child labour market.
The fund, which will come through World Education, is in addition to the US contribution earlier made through International Labour Organisations (ILO) International Program on Elimination of Child Labour project in Nepal (ILO/IPEC).
According to the ILO survey, there are nearly 2.6 million children between the age of 5 to 14 in Nepal which works out to nearly 40 percent of the population of the children in country.
"The assistance will go towards enhancing educational opportunities to children in 22 districts of the country," the press release issued by US embassy said on Tuesday. (yo)
