Someone used to say....aare yaar control nahi hota! So now I guess I better say it myself ki...saachi nai control hi nahi hota.... Coming to US was a huge decision that I made...leaving my parents, my friends and my family.....it surely was a great decision that I made. You might ask why? Why did you chose to leave them all and come to this alien land then?.. Well.....my answer is almost the same as yours...to achieve something...to find my dreams...to be happy and to live a life peacefully. But....now after sep 11 and our king's sad demise...I have begun to wander ...is this the right place?..Did i make a correct decision?..Things are so much wrong in my own land..and here I am living a much better life..then my own parents. I can't even imagine each moment of their live leaving in a threatening place..where each moment is like a hundred years...I wish I could change...I wish I could do something...I wish....

You have to do nothing just because you can't do anything sitting there in Usa . Why don't you shift your family with you?

Well, the state of Nepal is quite sad. What can we do? In our long-term plans if there is a true desire to help our Motherland then we must be committed to study something that will help the country as a whole. Most of us come here with dreams of becoming an IT specialist or some sort of engineer but will those professions really help Nepal? Billions of dollars are spent on countries such as our Nepal but, no amount of financial contribution will get them out of the hole that it is in now. The social costs are even greater...poverty, lack of medical treatment, barriers to social services, etc. What are WE going to do about it? Will we study useful things here to take back and help a population greatly in need of these services? Perhaps taking some time and taking up a human services field will allow you to fulfill you wish...you wish to help...yes, but how will you help? For that matter how will I help? How will the rest of the Nepali community help? Perhaps that's something for all of us to consider...
