At least 50 policemen and 12 Maoist rebels have been killed in clashes in south-western Nepal, according to the country's interior ministry. About 3,000 fighters are reported to have attacked police posts in the villages of Satbariya, Lamahi and Bhaluwang in Dang district, 450 kilometres (280 miles) west of the capital Kathmandu. Interior Minister Devedra Raj Kandel said 35 policemen died in Satbariya and 13 in Lamahi. The other victims were passengers in a bus that was set ablaze by the Maoists, he said. Officials said about a dozen rebels died in the assault on Lamahi and estimated the final death toll could be much higher. More than 1,000 fighters attacked the police post in Satbariya, which was manned by about 100 policemen. http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/world/south_asia/newsid_1925000/1925120.stm
