Another Day in the Sajha.com Land
Now that I am free of 9-5, M-F work, I am wandering about here and there. I log in whenever -like 5 in the morning if I wake up too early or 2 in the morning if I come home after hard drinking (nah just kidding – the drinking part J). Sometimes I post and other times just read. If it is 4 in the afternoon then go into the chatroom and what else? Chat!
Today was just another morning for me. Woke up early made a pot of tea and logged in. Did not even go out to get my newspaper. Lo and behold there she was! A naked woman spread out right in front of me at 7 in the morning. Was I ready for that exhibitionism? Was I prepared for somebody’s twisted sense of right or wrong? Of course not. But here is the weirdest part: I was not shocked to see that pornographic image. Not shocked at all. That fact was shocking to me. I have been visiting this site since last January and I noticed I have become mature. These types of posting don’t offend my sensibilities anymore. I get offended much more by some postings from some self-proclaimed intellectual than this kind of banality.
I have met some really great people through this site, found some lost friends, and most surprising of all, gotten some offer to write for real and for money! Will it materialize? I don’t know yet but the fact is I am still surprised… All of these happened because of this site. I had been badgered, called names, exalted, demonized, vilified everything in a short span of one year! Wrote more than I thought I was capable of writing, and in some way I have found a voice and an outlet to express it. Without this board, I might have never found my weakness and strength.
So, a picture of a naked woman in this site does not make me puke or go defensive or offensive anymore. It is just another day in Sajha land. I point and click other threads and go about reading other mildly interesting stuff.

Nah! Just taking some time off. Re thinking about priorities. Thinking about strategies how to achieve those what matter me the most and so on.

Guess what will be my kid's reaction when I open a "Greetings" thread at sajha.com from my reading room and find such picture while the kid on my side is still learning how to draw a monkey! Is it fare to post such things without warning? Don't tell me I should not have opened my computer in the presence of my kid. Any other solution?

But, excuse me Parakhi, if I am not mistaken, since *I* wrote this I should know better, this posting was about my relationship with this site. What has changed in *me*, how *I* have grown with this site, and where I stand vis a vis to its contents. The title, "Naked Women, This site and I" somehow gives away my true intention of this posting, doesn't it? If you look carefully I have not given any hint that this posting is about moral accounting, responsibility, or Freedom of Speech. If you are a regular visitor of this site, surely you have some idea where I stand on these issues?
This posting was not about "how to raise a child in an internet infested time." I cannot put words into your mouth what to say when your monkey drawing son sees a nude photo. I can say only this: I have a two and a half old daughter. As much as I love her, I cannot be with her 24 hours a day. I know I cannot shield her from undesirable elements all her (young) life. In the house if she sees sucha photograph and ask me what that is I will simply say this is a nude photo of a woman! What else is there to say?
I used to laugh uncontrollably when I used to hear in the Great Clinton Scandal Time what should people say to their children about his affair with Lewinsky. Why do parents make a politician their role model? Why do the let their young ones worship a 7 ft. basket ball player whose contribution to society is his personal wealth of a few billion dollars and yes, sometimes whacking his girlfriend or wives here and there? To my daughter *I* should set an example. Her father should be the one who she should look upto. Not some message board! Not some philandering president.

NKji, I understand the context of your first posting and I agree with your view. I also agree that only we, the parents, could be the true role model for our kids. Though, they will later be filled up with different ideas from school, community and the places in which they grow outside home. All different views might model their thinking in addition to what we give them, which might in some cases contradictory to each other too. However, As we stand by their side and give them a fair treatment to their every queries, it will sure help them withstand un-due pressure from their community and peer.
BTW, I was just responding to the subsequent posting in the thread, especially cwte. Thanks for your mature in thinking, stable in imotion and learned by experienced posting. :-)

I don't mind nude pictures as long as they're titillating, but the pictures that the troll posted work exactly opposite. A sexually aroused man will most probably get unaroused after looking at those images. The photographer is an amateur, no doubt. An erect penis will surely go flaccid after taking a peek at even one pic. A pornstar's body is usually voluptuous and buxome; u wanna grab em and bang em right on the spot. The images posted by the troll are so deformed and ugly that after looking at them, even a sexual superman will become impotent, and will have to take Viagra for the rest of his life.
I wonder who gets aroused by such nasty picchas...a blind man???
So basically, the pictures disgusted me. BTW, I LOVE PORN.
