DC's NEW YEAR's party was blast. Party was organized the by Mount Everest Restaurant of Washington DC. Food - momo, cheura, masu, achar accompanied by fun inducing chyang drink was excellent. Champion was also served. With just 25 dollar per person, they managed to pull concert featuring Sunil Upretti, RamRaja Mahat and many local talents. Program was ran in very informal way. In my estimation, almost 250 people attended the party. Boys and girls ratio was 1:15 so the competition among boys to get girl's attention was fierce. Yet no skirmish broke out - which I thought would result with copious dose of beer, wine and chyaang. Sexy Saranga Shrestha was there too. Only thing rottening about the party was DJ- which stopped jyakka, jyakka...many times rendering all dancers rythm to dead cold. Another good thing about party was total absence of DC's so called elite community who miss no opportunity to show their vanity at whatever Nepali get together. Congratulation Mount Everest Restaurant for pulling this program to success. I would like to see more such programs in future without the same DJ :-)

Curious, FYI, the event was not free and nobody was there to devour the free food . Where did you get an idea that I am complaining about DJ should be loaded with Nepali culture thing??? Before you made the comments did you read the whole thing???

Mt. Everest restaurant is on the 18th and S street. You can take the metro to Dupont cirlcle. So, it was fun huh? I was thinking about going....but then I figured there'd be a lot of nachahine manche haru. I usually stay away from these Nepali gatherings. Tara, if I knew Sunil dai would be performing...i'd atleast try to be there.

As far as i saw, dj's music wasn't stopped by the dj but by the rowdy / drunk guys who were jumping infront of the dj area pulling the plug on the whole system making all that jyak jhyak noize. Dj was ok, played club music and i know i'm not very fond of it in the nepalese gathering except i go out to the clubs. Was it really organized by Mt. Everest restaurant ? i thought few young DC natives were the main organizers, but overall it was good.

Heartly congratulation to MOUNT EVEREST RESTAURANT for well organization of DC's New Year 2059 party. I have a complete address of MOUNT EVEREST RESTAURANT. It offers real authentic Nepalese,Tibetan and Indian cuisine. I've been there twice and enjoyed having our own delicious Nepali food. I really felt great with nice decorations and well management in there. Please don't miss your chance to go that restaurant if you have a plan to visit DC. Have a great fun.
