GBNC presents RAKTAMYA PAHAD, a 45 minute documentary, produced by Dhruba Basnet on the Maowadi
andolan in Nepal. This documentary comes with high accolades and should be of great interest to both Nepalis and non-Nepalis interested in the biggest crisis Nepal is dealing with right now.

Details of the program:

Venue: Room 4-231 at MIT, 77 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA
Date: April 20, 2002, Saturday.
Program Starts at 4.00pm.
First screening at 4:30pm SHARP and
Second screening at 6:15pm SHARP.
Entrance Fee: $3. (2/3 of the cover charge will go to the producers. Along with any donations.)

For more information, please contact: Prasanna Dhungel (prasanna@alumni.princeton.edu), or Batsal Devkota (batsal@hotmail.com) at 617-359-8260.

An OVERVIEW of the documentary from http://himalassociation.org/dhruba/

"In early 2001, the filmmaker accompanied a group of journalists on a journey to Rolpa, Rukum and Jajarkot,
three districts in far-western Nepal that make up the stronghold of the Maoists. Using footage shot over 26 days in the tough mountainous terrain of the region, the film attempts to understand the causes underlying the rise of the Maoists, and its effect on the local population."

DIRECTIONS to MIT:

To see where Room 4-231 is, please go to: http://whereis.mit.edu/bin/map?state=0&pri.x=320&pri.y=148 . Also, the directions for getting to MIT by public transportation are:
Subway. By train, take the Red Line to the Kendall/MIT Station or to the Central Square Station, both of which are a short walk from the campus. The walk from Central Square takes about 10 minutes and takes you right down Massachusetts Avenue. The Kendall/MIT Station is on the edge of the east end of campus, and as soon as you enter an MIT building you can get to the other buildings without going outside.

Bus. The #1 or Dudley bus stops at MIT on Massachusetts Avenue and provides transportation to Central Square and Harvard Square. The MIT stop is at a large crosswalk with a stop light. One one side of the street are steps leading up to large Ionic columns and the Small Dome of MIT, on the other side of the street is the Stratton Student Center and Kresge Oval (an open, grass-covered area).

Washington DC area people,
Come tonight to see that movie at George Mason University. I am going. I think it is at 6:00pm. They also have talk program. Talk program- in my view is useless. Talk show will be helpful if they tell us somethign new -something we don't know. But anyway, movie is there and I am glad they are showing it.

Since the mao allow them to picture it they have financial interest on this picture. I strongly oppose financially supporting these mao.

DO NOT SUPPORT MAO. MAO ARE LOOKING SOME INTELECTUAL PEOPLE TO BE IN THEIR PARTY AND THESE ARE NEPALESE UNDERGROUND QUIETLY SUPPORTING THEM>

DO NOT GO
