I think readers who have been following my postings on writing on this GBNC Web site know that I did NOT invoke Joyce, Rushdie FIRST. I mentioned Joyce and Faulkner IN PASSING without talking about them at length. I started by saying: Simple, clear, forceful language is needed. I gave examples from America: Krugman, McPhee and others. When I was asked to give examples from Nepal, Rupesh, Bikas and others came to my mind. To sum up: There are MANY talented Nepalis, America, Nepal and elsewhere, who have the potential to write clearly, simply and forcefully. Such writing is NOT easy, but can be done. We need to invest on debates, dialogues, conversations, criticisms and feedbacks so that many of us, assuming we are interested can contribute to public debates with smplicity, clarity and forece of logic. Thanks to Biswo and Gokul for their thoughts. oohi ashu
