In an earlier thread started by mahamurkha, he raised an intresting issue of deployment of american troops in nepal. some people wrote that since nepal had nothing to offer to US, it would not send its troops to nepal.

however, it is a possibility that US could be forced into sending its military support to nepal. we all are aware of the terrorists campaign that the maoists are running these days. setting off explosives everywhere. what would keep them from, say, blowing up the american embassy or kidnapping americans. it would not surprise me if they did such things. in such event, i think US would be forced into taking an action.

also, the maoists are intensifying their activities everyday. and the international media has already made note of this. it has caught the attention of american govt. and if the maoists' continue their activities, they cannot simple be ignored by the US as it is intent upon combating terrorism everywhere. what is nepal's problem today might potentially be US's problem in the future. thus, in that regard there could be a possibility of US trrops in nepal. if not US, then certainly a UN peacekeeping force.

an individual by the name makardhwaj stated in an earlier thread that if the US troops were to be deployed in nepal, "There will be no any original culture left behind.". makardhwaj, do u think there would be any culture left under the maoists? we have all heard of maoists not letting teachers teach sanskrit in school. cutting of bhaun's tuppi etc. it seems that they are also against religion. so i do not see any culture under the maoists if they were to rule the country .
makardhwaj also states that all nepalis will become christians if the troops were to be deployed. how so? have all japanese become christians?

i hope the situation doesn't arrive when we have to bring foreign troops into our soil. but at last if that is what it comes down to, i have no problem with the deployment of american troops in nepal

Americans were in Nepal during the Khampa days to train the Tibetan fighters against the Chineses. That was in the 70s, I think.
Since the reds have always been on the 'axis of evil' as far as the US administration has been concerned, get prepared to see a few Anti-Maoist presents from Uncle Sam.

Why would US even think about coming to Nepal; we don't have oil, we don't have Al Qaeda, we don't have anything that would interest US... and history says that unless US has its personal interest (can be monetary, political, or anything that elevates their economy or image), it is not helping anyone.

And also, we have two giants surrounding us. Both, China and India, do not have very good relationship with US. They will definitely object the idea of having US military in Nepal. I can see China's army entering the country if not India's before US army.

Also, we don't really want US army to come into the Nepali soil...

For those who want to have peace and don't want to have possible solutions without hurting so called patriatic crap. I have two word to say "Fuk pride". Pride just hurts. All I care is my country men and women's safety. I don't care if somalian troops comes to rescue us.

I think Americans don't need to put boots on the grounds in Nepal and I seriously doubt that they will. What we need is better technology to fight Maoists and more importantly better management skills.

It is imperartive that our leaders have a sincere desire to do right by our country.
The 20 mil we MIGHT get from US, I hope it's put to good use.

With hearfelt desire to do right by our country and some superior technology, Maoists don't stand a chance and I think that's what we need right now.

Sheer bravery can carry you only so far. Better technology is the ultimate answer.

I was also wondering if anyone knew if our govt. or army uses satelite pictures for intelligence gathering? I know there are commercial shops that sell satelite pics.

If we are using so much money on defence, spending some on satelite pics to collect intelligence would be a great investment. Any thoughts?

Well, after reading all views, we cannot underestimate, US will not deploy their Army in Nepal. If we cleary look behind our country and side of boarder of Nepal, Nepal is potiantial area for US Army deployment. Here is some points:

- First of all, US will have another a place to deploy their Army in Asian region.
- Secondly, US already have some disputed are already going on between China on spying each other. If US Army deployed in Nepal, there is much possible and easy to spy to China. Because, China's boarder is much closer than any other places.
- Thirdly, US will have another an opportunity to watch on India's military position as well. Because, most of Indian's arm and ammunitions are mostly imported or related to Russian made. Oviously, Indian's govt, business were commerically tie-up with US affiliated. However, Army and its Security wise, they have been more stronger relationship with Russina.
- Another issue is, US can able to establish long term Base station in Nepal than any other place. Because, there will not much protest and other riot will not gonne happened since they establish their Base.
- Nepal's government can be manipulated very easily than any other government. Because, Nepal Govt's just need money. i.e. they don't even think to sell their land of country to fulfill those Su cker's (Govt.t)'wish/will.

- There is many point here, I will post it later. I got to leave now....

.... continue from from previous comments:

- another event we haven't forget yet. The event is, Indian arilines was hijacked by Pakistany militant and landed in Afganistan. From that event had shown they had relatiohship with Taliban or Al-Quida members.
- US has already predicated, Nepal is a place, where many terrorist or Al-Quida's members are hiding or place of terrorists.
- US will have a right place - Nepal, if US is disputed with China, US can station all military pawer in future to surrounding Whole China. Keep in mind, US military base are in Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand, Philipinnes whereas these bases are mostly closed to China.

These are just niche examples only. There are so many points, which we can take seriously over US military deployment in Nepal.

There is no possibility of American troops. China and India will never want that. Nepal can't let american to enter in Nepal without consent of these Gaints. But if situation continues, you will see Indian troops running in New Road. You can't say NO to this possibilites. It was happened in Sir Lanka. It might be repeat in Nepal. Just pray for god this will never happen. This is happening just beacuse of Jack ass Nepali congress and UML. Sometime I think Girija and Madhav are gay and give blow job to each other. Otherwise Nepal would not have been in this condition. What you guys think about them?
