Some people flaunt their erudition not by the words they use, but by the range of topics they pretend to know and cover. Not to mention the reuse of borrowed ideas and circular logic. While exhibition through vocabulary is easily discernable (and criticizable), that done with the other means as mentioned above is harder to tell, and hence more dangerous and deceptive.
