Did i shock you with my question?? Did i hurt your pride of being nepali?? Do you have that thing called hate running in your blood?? Well to make things clear, I am not Indian, and I dislike Indians (not hate but dislike) just like any other Nepali. But i am talking about music. Music is far away from anything you love or hate. It is devine. You don't hate music. You might dislike the tune, but that doesn't mean that you hate MUSIC. May be you don't approve of the way somebody created the music, but you cannot dislike music. (i am trying hard to prove my point, which i am finding difficulty to bring it out). You may say "this part should be something like this" when you listen to the music, or you may say, "damn he just copied the tune from this blah blah song", but that doesn't mean you gonna hate that music. You may hate that person who created or copied that music, but you cannot hate the Music itself I take music as a God. Infact music IS a god. Sarswoti is the goddess of music, and if you disgrace music, you disgrace sarswoti. That means you disgrace hiduism, you disgrace Nepal and you disgrace Nepali culture, since Nepal is a hindu country. (Hello!! I don't wanna hear that you are muslim or christian, all i know is the fact that Nepal is a hindu country, if you think i am wrong, then thats upto you). Coming back to the MUSIC, (i don't know what i am writing, but i know that i am defending music), Music makes you sad and happy, music takes you to the places where you go only in your dream, or maybe some place beyond that. Music soothes you, drives you crazy, takes your breath away, and puts the breath in your life. Music doesn't know any boundry. Music doesn't know any caste, creed, sex, religion. Music comes from heart, it is the feeling, and how can anyone distinguish the feeling of the people?? May be you can name the feeling, "oh thats sad song" or "ah, man "real slim shady" is really funny song", but how can you distinguish the feeling of the indivisual person?? I feel the same way you feel. If it hurts, i cry or may feel like crying, and i am sure ... so do you. Okay, now lets come to the point. Do you guys listen to Hindi music?? well, i listen everything, from jazz, classical indian, nepali folk, narayan gopal, george michael, jay-z's rap, to nusrat fateh ali khan, original Engilsh movie soundtrack, country, blues, sanjay shrestha, nepathaya, nepali jhyaure, chinese, japanese... anything i get to listen. ofcourse it is different thing that i might like the way they composed or not,(BUT I don't hate the MUSIC). well ive been listening to AR Rahman, an indian music director, (i don't really care about other indian music director's) and i found him really intelligent. One can distinguish his rhythm pattern, as well as melody, and the FEEL of the things he creates. Its my personal point of view. I really liked the way he puts the notes of the music, and beats of the rhythm, and comes up with the songs that i approve of. I have also listened to his TAMIL songs (no i don't understand the language), and i found him equally chilling. Dispite the fact that i don't really approve of his songs every time. There are some songs, that could have been better according to my point of view. I was just wondering if you guys also listen to him regardless of the fact that you hate to say you listen to hindi songs and you love to say you listen to Metallica. Don't take it wrong guys, I love metallica. anyone??? thanks for reading my long Words of MY personal FEELINGS... it just proves that i have got nothing to do thats worthwhile.

Sorry, I did not read all but the topic tell us everything what you are trying to say. As long as it is music, it doesnot matter. I listen to all the music from any part of the world. God bless.

There are too many people in this country who hate Asians. I think there should be alliance between Asians rather than hatred. My Korean friends don't like Japanese and Chinese don't like Vietnamese and Nepali don't like Indians ... What is all this nonsense? Why do you dislike Indians anyways? In my college, most Indians don't even talk to me for some weird reasons...but i shouldn't generalize all Indian population based on these few Indians. Do you even see the impact of hating each other in the long run? We are all Asians. Our countries have been vandalized by other powerful nations at one point or the other. So we need to stick together. Success of one Indian or one Korean created an echelon for other Asians to move up the ladder(little bit easier). This is my opinion and i don't wanna hear any bs about how wrong i am. (Just kidding) Have fun.

I don't know why i dislike Indians. May be i was grown up like that. In USA, if guys wear purple, or listen to the gay singers like Elton john, george micheal, read some gay articles, or even buy magazines with "brad pitt" on the cover, people think you are also a gay. They just generalize. Like wise, in Nepal, "i like Indian" thing is a Taboo. I remember when i was in school, I used to read hindi comics, listen to the hindi songs, watch hindi movie, but i never talked anything good about indian's. I dont' know why. Coz if i said anything good about inidans, my friends would name me "DHOTI". Which i didn't approve of. I still don't know why i dislike Indians. Although, when i came to America, Indian's helped me a lot. I made lots of Indian American frens- I hang out with them, chill out with them, hit the same girl, but still- i couldn't get rid of that dislikeness. I don't know why, maybe i am just a jealous guy!! May be i generalize. but i still hate SOME sardars.. they suck. no manners no respect... SOME of them are real assssshole.. especially if they came to the big city directly from thier village.

Dear fren, I could not understand the topic. Appreciating a music is a very personal thing why you want approval from whole Nepali mass. Does approval of mass matters so much to you? may be we are made of two entirely different thing. screwed

Yes, I listen to Hindi Music BIG time. Matter of fact, I listen to everything that has a musical feel to it (sounds of NYC subway, rain falling, etc). Music is universal. Keep it free from politics. Power_Ranger

In my personal opinion, A R Rahman is one of the elite musicians that are available in the Indian market. Each of his songs introduces its unique refreshment, making each and every of them (or most of them) pleasure to ears. In a different note, he has stepped into the International Music arena by composing music with British composers (don't know the details).

To answer your question, I don't listen to Indian music and I don't watch Indian movies not because of my ego but simply I don't find indian movies and music anywhere close to my amusement sphere. But I do eat Indian food and I love paani poori. Still I hate Indians, for no reason at all...I wonder why? (jealousy??)

most of the hindi movie songs are not worth listening. i used to listent to hindi music a lot long time ago. but not anymore. in high school, listend to lot of R&B. Moslty ol school. everyone from smoky robinson to keith sweat, Jodeci, Blackstreet(not to be confused with BACKstreet), R kelly, genuwine and the list goes on. and the year i graduated from high school, Fugees were on the top. Spent a great deal of time studing their lyrics and finally me and my buddy Will recorded our version of Fugees' The Score. Recorded on his computer. sold two copies for free. and all this time, i also ued to listen to narayan gopal. mostly him when it came to nepali music. u see, back then we were sort of forced to listen to all that hindi movie music. but now we have lot of nepali artists of our own. back then it was mostly the old guys. but now we have varaity in our nepali music. so these days i find myself listening to nepali music 90% of the time. i thought the new artists were not worth listening. then slowly i started liking their music. now i mostly listen to Nepathya, 1974 AD(going to their concert), and various other nepali artists. when it comes to hindi, i just listen to ghazals. like i said, 90% of the hindi movie songs are not worth listening (this goes for nepali movie songs as well). we have beautiful nepali music in such abundance that i don't find the time or need to listen to other music. although i ocassinaly listen to my great collection of R&B. If you like Nepalese Music you like Hindi Music. No matter how much we hate indian, we enjoy their music, their film, their food, their culture and everything else. If you do not have Nepalese friends in your university, you will naturally be closer to Indians. This is a fact and we can not deny that. We can pretend to enjoy english music more than Hindi, but we enjoy Hindi music more than English. Of course, there are expections. But if you like English music more than Hindi than you like it more than Nepalese as well.

Screwd, I'm not talking about approval. Quite frankly i didn't understand what you are trying to say. My main point was that we don't need to hate Indians. IS that so hard?

People of springfield ( please visualize some episode of simpson)... stop...That's enough. You are too amused. And we got no "duff". Anyway Back to the topic. "Hate" it self is a harsh word fellas. Just by looking at certain people, we can't just generalizing whole society but I don't wanna use that generic term "sterotype" here. We like curry. We love indian food. Nepali language is close to indian. We have hindi movie released on the same day and all of 'em are packed . We enjoy alot of things from India and we still complain and make statement like we "hate" them. Why????? Please almighty god...tell me why does it happen to nepali people. Ahhh.... the sound of music. Who can't appreciate it. Most nepali music are based on hindi music and we enjoy them and we still say , we hate "indian" music. And another slap on a face, alot of nepali dudes and girls look indian. Nothing more to say... I think most nepalis are having "identity" crisis because foreginers don't perceive them as "nepali". And they want to become somebody else. And the crual world never stops following. They get frustrated and make comments...I "hate" indians. P.s. I am not indian but one damn proud nepali who doesn't beleive in this stupid crap and music is my aeroplane!

Yo guys, thanks for the replies!! My question was not about if you 'hate' or don't 'hate' indians. I don't hate them. I just dislike them. There is a difference between hate and dislike. I dislike some girls, that doesn't mean that i HATE girls. Come on' guys... !! Make that thing clear. Yesterday i watched "Company", a hindi movie after a long time. I LIKED it. It was cool. The last movie i watched before company was ... i don't know, some stupid movie.... with salman khan.. and i DISLIKED it... i could have hated that movie.. i prefered the word dislike to hate. By the way, my question is DO you guys like AR RAHMANS music?? well.. i don't care if you hate Indian's or not, but i was just interested about Rahman.
