Since sajha.com attracts many ex- and present GAA members, this may be relevant. If not, then, please ignore this. Bostonians may note that this new Executive Committee of the GAA has quite a few former Boston residents and a quite a few former GBNC people. oohi ashu ktm, nepal ********* The members of the Godavari Alumni Association (GAA- Thamel) recently elected officers for 2002-2004. President Mahendra "Honda" Sakya CEO of MomoKing Restaurant chains. Vice-President Prakash Subedi Vice-President for Women's Affairs Ms. Sonila Shah Secretary Rajeev Pradhan CEO of LotusHoldings, an investment company Treasurer Rajeev Adhikari Executive Committee Members Ayush Man Sherchan Neelesh Man Shrestha Niroj Shrestha Anand Raj Khadka Ameer Gurung Subash Gyawali Niresh Shakya Sabin Joshi, and Ashutosh Tiwari All of the above -- volunteers all -- will take an oath of office in a ceremony on the 18th of May. Of all of the above, oldest officer is 42 years old. The youngest is 17 years old. ************ I have worked with Honda before, in Kathmandu and in Boston, and have come to appreciate the way he allows/tolerates dissent and disagreements to come to the fore so that best ideas and practices can be used to serve the alumni community. Some clear challenges for the GAA in coming years are: 1) how to use its resources and influence credibly assert itself in public/civil society spheres. 2) how to generate more income from its physical infrastucture (3 ropanis of land and a huge building with an indoor basketball court in Thamel) 3) how to be a common platform to the widest sections of STX School and STX Campus ko alumni/ae. 4) how to establish, nurture, and develop deep relations with many other organizations in Nepal. Let's see how things develop for the GAA under Honda's leadership -- in bits and pieces, through incremental, positive efforts on everyone's part.

Thanks, Silwalik for your good wishes. Appreciate them. It was Honda the president himself, in his persistent and hard-to-argue-back self, who "recruited" other professionals and me into the new GAA Ex-Com after countless back-and-forth discussions over the last few weeks. Honda is fiercely committed to making the GAA a dynamic, yet inclusive, place, and he needs all the support he can get from all GAA and non-GAA members. oohi ashu ktm, nepal

Well, I hope his dynamic leadership will spread some light into the darkness of Nepali samaaj. His ability to recruit competent professionals speaks volume of his potential. I am not a member or anything but still wish goodness to prevail in Nepal. GAA has been there for a long time, and should be there for ever and ever.

Momoking restaurant chain Ashu? Is that in Nepal or is it international? I would like to partake of some the menu items as well as public shares if any. Good to see you have not deserted this site. I remember Honda from when he used to hang out with my older brothers at the Old Boys Day and the GAA basketball tourney. I am glad to see he is doing well, and you as well.

BP_ I will surely take you to MomoKing in Putali Sadak when you and your wife are next in Kathmandu. MK's sekuwas are good too. Honda came back from Boston about 7 years ago, and, since then, he and his brothers have been running these momo-restauarant chains in Kathmandu. On another note, if anyone wants to start a service business in Kathmandu, Honda would be the de facto the fountain of wisdom . . . At GAA, we call Honda "His Majesty the MomoKing" :-) Anyway, last Saturday, 25 of us spent the whole day at GAA --working through countless cups of tea and lunch and biscuits -- mapping out visions, strategies and coming up with a list of concrete deliverable activities and campaigns for the next two years. Taking part in the discussions, it was obvious that Honda has done a good job, recruiting interesting, motivated and challenging professionals to be on the new GAA Ex-Com -- people whose thinking seems more business-like, more structured hence sharper and tighter and a lot less fuzzier and wooly. Let's see how things ago in weeks and months ahead. oohi ashu ktm, nepal
