I find it quite interesting to observe the political manuevres of Nepal these days. Two absured things about it: The France tour(think about a guided tour to Louvre, watching Mona Lisa and observing fabled boulevards of Paris from Eiffel tower where Lain Singh Bangdel honed his art skills, that too after Jange proudly did it more than a century ago!!) of prime minister Girija while the nation is watching the disfunctioning of its bicameral parliament and travesty of democratic norm by opposition while demanding the resignation of Girija. I have no misgiving about Girija's unsuccess. However, I don't know why UML thinks it can oust him by stalling parliamentary proceedings. He has majority in parliament, fourty more members than that of UML. We want to listen what Girija will tell us about his involvement in Lauda, but will we ever be able? UML says it will repeat Phillipines incident. Will it be able to do so? and is it healthy practice? In Phillipines, military aristocrats ditched the president, and do we want military to same thing in Nepal? Do we want military to dictate who becomes prime minister in Nepal? And here is Girija who is going to France while the nation is stalled, and while he knows that he is in problem. It is such an unfathomable callous political expediency.(Btw, the ambassador to France, be aware, you may be dropped if you are not attentive, or if something goes awry there. Girija is like a tornado, when he comes,he may come quietly, but when he leaves, he takes away a lot of things.) Anyway, if he wants to go to France, let's hope he will burnish Nepalese image there. He may be a Nero of KTM, but let's hope he will end up doing some good for Nepal.I think, Girija should also remember that Jange is remembered in Nepal for acquiring our lost lands(nayaa muluk), while ,until now, Girija's most likely legacy is his attempt to surrender Nepalese land in Tanakpur to India. So misfit to succeed Jange! The balmy breezes of Paris may remember Jange while Girija is there by several similarities between these two hosts: both with strikingly similar propensity to establish family dynasty in Nepalese power centers, both having similar 'Mudhebal', but alas the elder was more comittal about national sovereignty, more sexy, and more imbued with chutzpah and ambition.
