Important Notice To All Concerning
International Telephone Service
To Nepal
Article 5 clause 21 of Nepal Telecommunications Act - 2053* states that after the commencement of this Act no., one may operate the Telecommunication Service without obtaining a licensed operator authorized to operate International Voice Communication Services in the kingdom. It will be worthwhile to remind all concerned that Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA), from time to time, has voiced suspicion about possible operation of international voice traffic with the publication of general notice which clearly warns all possible unauthorized operators not to operate illegal international voice communication in Nepal.
The illegal operation of international telephone services by some people with poorly equipped equipment, limited circuits and cheap tariff rates has been providing poor quality telephone services through Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP). The Answer to Seizure Ratio (ASR) of these services is always poor resulting in noisy circuits and it is very difficult to get the line. This is the reason why people from the overseas countries find it very difficult to get connection to Nepal and even if they get connection, the line is always noisy and conversation is seldom smooth.
We got complaints by callers from the overseas countries stating their difficulties in calling their counterparts/ family in Nepal. Based on the complaints regarding a very low quality voice during international telephone calls, we have thoroughly investigated all the technical parameters and monitored all related performance indicators, which directly or indirectly affect the quality of service of international telephone calls. We are glad to announce that there is absolutely no deterioration in any of those parameters. There is no problem at all in the calls coming to Nepal Via NTC network.
The call through Nepal Telecommunications Corporation is of excellent best quality and is easy to get through. Nepal Telecommunications Corporation with this notice , requests all the Nepalese and foreigners residing outside Nepal to make calls through the operators (in the respective countries) that have links with the operator (in Nepal) having valid license to operate voice communication services in Nepal. Doing so he/she will not only get the best services for his/her money but also help stop the siphoning off of the government revenue by illegal operators.
