KALAIYA, May 24 - An Indian national found guilty of murdering five persons by poisoning alcohol was sentenced to life imprisonment along with confiscation of his entire property. Bisundev Shaha, a resident of Kengarghana in Poornia district of India used to run a liquor shop in Kolhawi bazaar in Kolhawi VDC of Bara district.
The five persons—Parau Chaudhary, Jaikishen Mukhiya, Magani Mahato, Biswanath Chaudhary and Kandar Chaudhary of the same locality—died after consuming liquor at Shaha’s shop on September 26, 2001.
Some 25 litres of liquor confiscated from his shop following the incident was found to contain high percentage of methyl, which was later proved poisonous. The sentence was announced by the district court of Bara. (yo)
