Call for Panelists- “Girls Trafficking in Nepal” – DC 2002 ANA Convention

Similar to the smoldering issue of Maobadi war in Nepali political sphere, Girls Trafficking posits to be the impending social catastrophe for the masses. With the sky rocketing implication of health crisis and the population bared for the trickling of eventual social malaise, it is undoubtedly one of the most pressing and time sensitive issue of Nepal, especially being the leading source for forced sexual slavery in South Asia and other countries.

No one can single handedly save this deepening crisis; only community wide awareness of the matter will help alleviate the implosion. That community includes the Nepalis in US. The inspiring folks involved in this issue in Nepal are doing what they can but they need all the help they can from the detached yet perennially concerned Nepalis here in North America. Thus the town hall meeting on ‘Girls Trafficking in Nepal’ in the DC 2002 ANA Convention being held July 4-7 near Washington, DC.

This forum will seek to enhance understanding of the problem and raise awareness on how engulfing this is for the populace of Nepal. It will examine the roots and causes on how this all came about, quietly at first, then smacking the face of Nepali society. Another part in the session will showcase the endeavors of NGO/INGO’s role. Then, last but not the least, it will shed some light on how we all can contribute in prevention and cure.

We are seeking knowledgeable volunteers as panelists for the presentations. The speakers will follow documentary snippets on the topics and take questions from the participants at the end. Please contact us at saissues@yahoo.com if you are interested. We are calling for panelists to ensure that the participants of the town hall meeting will have comprehensive overview of the Girls Trafficking in contemporary Nepal. Please send us a note with your resumes by June 9, 2002.

Thank you.
