Dear Prabhat,

The reason I write and post my stuff PUBLICLY using my own
name is that I want to stand I fully behind my ideas and thoughts. If others have better ideas, and if they share them
in public forums like this, the we will all learn from one another.

In doing so, I am willing to bear ALL the risks. (I appreciate Biswo, Hom Raj, Namita and others here because they too
use their own names and stand behind their own postings!).

And one of those risks of public postings includes absorbing comments like yours with a smile, and use it to build up all the more resiliency to burst back with more energy and ideas. :-)
This process goes on and on.

Why?

Because discussions NEVER end in a democracy.

I am aware that writing this sort of things plainly and
clearly drives some people up the wall, and that's life.

But then, just as risks of doing this sort of thing is
great, rewards (mostly intangible unquantifiables) are
much, much greater.

So, my friend, long live our discussions, our disagreements and our various ideas.

It's only by arguing together and by reasoning together we have
a better stab at cracking the truth (however it's defined) than by any other means known to mankind.

And disagreements on the level of ideas is NOT the same as personal disagreements.

And so, having benefitted from some the most exciting discussions in Boston, I'm happy to assist with bringing more of such discussions to this Web site and other physical
spaces.

I like Biswo's attitude on this matter, i.e. respect whatever name the participant wants to be introduced with. I remember Biswo replying to Nobody addressing Nobodyji. What's wrong with that? what matters more than anything is the intent and the content of the message posted here not the name. There is nothing wrong in using someone's real name but if someone does not, it shouldn't be a problem. I really wonder when someone claims to be a defender of democracy fuss about such petty issue (who uses a real name or who does not). My name is Sparsha Raj Nepal. I care less wheather someone appreciates me writing just sparsha. I don't require others to write their real name if they don't want to. How do we know if Kiran, Gokul, Rajendra ...are real names? if I start posting message by using Prashant, or Rakesh or Amar then it will be OK, huh?

I agree with sparsha and Biswo. What Ashu says, Ashu doesn't. When there was a heated discussion on SCN long time ago, Ashu himself admitted using a psuedonym (alias) for some of his compositions as he liked. In real democracy, people use their real names or pseudonyms as they please, including Ashu himself.
