I have been compelled to post another protest on GBNC over the use of news articles, particularly this time on the New Jersy based site of Nepalese - www.fonnj.org, from various news sites without revealing the source. The site, as recommeded for viewing by many on GBNC has a new section called "Daily Nepal News" and, as I can see, most of the news are just lifted as it is mostly from Kantipur Online. However, no mention has been of the source anywhere. This is very bad and unethical. It has made it appear that FONNJ members themselves have written and collected the information for the news. This is plagiarism again. Why can't we Nepalese computer programers and web site developers learn to be a little more ethical on the Internet. What are fellow mates in New Jersy doing when Nepalese in the United States should actually be setting a good example to everybody. Take a good example from GBNC. Though I understand all our objectives may be non-profit bearing, at least there is no harm in mentioneing the source of your information either. Hence, your news items is also more credible than the rest. I hope FONNJ takes this into strong consideration.

Yes. I have noticed. It was last couple of days site posted as daily news from the internet site with out mentioning the sources. Mostly from Daily News Advisory and from Kantipur online. In fact FONNJ is communicting with some news agency back in Nepal for contract basis. Even this non profit organization willing (if it is within the reach of organization financial status) to buy daily news from agencys. For the mean time it was posting news as experimental purpose only becuase web site was just recently started. BTW, FONNJ oppose plagiarism and would like to thank you for your positive comment. - Dave Member FONNJ, NJ

Dear FONNJ Member, Experimental or not. Plagiarism is plagiarism. Furthermore, you still have failed to admit that your organization FONNJ had been involved in plagiarism despite it being for a non-profit objective. Yes, you have renounced Plagiarism in your posting but still your comments lack any trace of an apology. Here are some of the reasons why I still maintain FONNJ act is plagiarism indeed: 1. In your earlier columns in Daily Nepal News, you had pasted exact news of Kantipur Online. However, you had removed "KOL Report" and the by-line of the online journalist within brackets eg. (rk/sjs/yo) in case of Kantipur Online. This proved you wanted to hide the actual source of your news and make it look like yours. 2. Your quicklinks contain links to Nepalnews, Nepal World News, The Himalayan Times and CNN. However, it still does not bear any links to Kantipur Online, the major source of your news on the Nepal Daily News page. What is your intension? 3. Obviously, you have made some adjustments by mentioning (Courtesy: Kantipur Online) and not removing the credits mentioned on complain 1 after a complain was posted on GBNC earlier. However, I would like to protest over the use of word "courtesy". I doubt if you've actually contacted people at Kantipur Online to give you permission to use their news in this manner. Hence, the use of the word "courtesy" is out of the question if this all is only a one-sided affair. The proper word you should be using is ("Source": Kantipur Online). Dave zee, I hope I'm not sounding so intimidating but please try to understand the plight of the booming field of online journalists in Nepal. It has done us a great favour and we shud give them due credit when they deserve to instead of "raping" them by stealing their hard work, the way you had been resorting. Let me give you one example, how would you feel if The Kathmandu Post tomorrow comes with a breaking news on their edition and then the very next day The Himalayan Times, The Rising Nepal and Space Time Today carries the same news in "exact words" in their editions but removes "Post Report" and does not mention anywhere that the report has been lifted from The Kathmandu Post??? Well, the FONNJ web site was resorting to a similar move by lifting Kantipur Online news without any credits earlier. I hope you get my point.

I've been very impressed with how Nepal-news is handled at the website maintained by the Nepal Association of Northern California. They've done an amazing job with their site and I cannot give enough kuddos the person(s) who update the site daily. http://www.nepalassociation.org/

Dear Dibesh Zee, No thank you. I am not "stongly" interested in your website and "your cause." In fact, your attitude of waving off such a serious mistake by calling it your "glitches and unintentional errors" without any apology has been a big turn off. Plus, I am located in Nepal. All the best with your "non-profit social work dedicated towards the children of Nepal." BTW, you must have lifted the world cup section in your web site from some other site too as you has been doing with Kantipur Online news. I hope you become ethical in that section too and revela your source.
