Hi everyone, Being "a piece of work", my "work" now is to inform you all that Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary (31) and Pramod Pathak (29) – two Kamaiya activists from Far Western Nepal will be in Boston this week till the week-end (next Sat/Sun) to attend the annual ceremony of the Forefront Reebok International Human Rights Awards. Dilli, a 1994 winner of the award in Boston, is on the steering committee of the Award Selection Group. Forefront Reebok is a network of grassroots human rights activists from around the world. Prahlad KC, an old-timer in Boston who’s been very supportive of Dilli’s work in the past and whom Dilli knows well, has kindly agreed – upon Dilli’s request – to help Dilli in every way to raise awareness about the work Dilli and his colleagues are carrying out in Kailali, Kanchanpur, Dang, Banke and Bardiya. I have also briefed Dilli and Pramod about the GBNC, and Dilli hopes to interact with Nepali and non-Nepali friends, critics and well-wishers in both formal and informal settings to talk at length about the Kamaiya Movement, which, as many of you know, has directly affected the the lives of up to 200,000 Nepalis. I urge all those in Boston interested to learn more about the Kamaiya movement to meet with Dilli, watch the videos, and ask critical, sharp questions to understand the underlying issues better. Dilli will be staying at a hotel in Back Bay on Chandler Street (Tolle free: 1-800-842-3450), but could also be reached via Prahlad Dai at his pasal "Prem-La" near Harvard Square (opposite Quincy House) (phone: (617) 547-8284). Dilli and Pramod will later be traveling to NYC, DC and other places. oohi ashu
