Adwiti Subba was one of 10 winners at the World Poetry Competitions held in Washington DC last year. She was one of 1.7 millions contestants. She has also published her poems in some other literary journals, and has recently published a selection of her poems,"Verses of Himalayas". Good thing about the book: It is published in handmade Nepali Kagaj. "I saw the handmade paper from Nepal and heard her poetry the second day I knew her. I knew the two had to mesh together, the poems needed to be printed and bound by traditional procedures" Her husband and publisher Eric says. Her husband ,Eric Haffner , is CEO/Chairman of H&S International Inc. and also a graduate of Auburn University. Subba attended classes in Darjeeling and Hongkong, and now lives in Gulf Shores(three hours drive from Auburn,AL) where she has rented a place by the ocean. She wants to know more Nepalese people, interacts with other writers and visit Nepal soon for promoting her poems. I attended her poetry recital today, and I find her performance astounding. Her recital of "Between Eyes and Eyes" won her a standing ovation from judges at the World Poetry Competition. With her consent, I have published her prize winning poem here. When I met her, I said this website would give her an opportunity to connect to her roots.(Thanks San!! And if this is the first time she is introduced to Nepalese readers, it is a more proud thing to celebrate for this website) She clapped her hands together (as a sign of Namaste) and said 'Muree Muree Dhanyabaad'. Her Nepali is impeccable. Especially to Gokul, Homraj, Namita and Ashu, since you people are interested in poetry, please contact her at Amazon@zebra.net and please help disseminate this news. This request is valid for other readers also. << Between Eyes and Eyes>> (Award winning poem in World Poetry Competition last year) In the solitary silence of my soul I feel myself connecting as a whole And who are you.. I ask In all sincerity, I know your spirit Moving into this being which I think is mine Between eyes and eyes Intensity of connection.. lies Naked.. yet waiting to bare Speechless.. yet speaking the language Unrestrained by mind, body and soul And I feel suspended.. even unresolved Between your eyes and mine I unlearn the experiences of love I unlive the meaning of life I even Forgive the knowledge I have implanted as a child.. And there between eyes and eyes A tributary flows.. Melting the snows of heaven Gushing, spouting, spreading, spurting Gliding.. into the spacelessness Of love.. and life Between eyes and eyes What we see are not barely eyes But the Universe revolving Withing each soul Aspiring to be.. Inspiring to be.. Learning to be.. Teaching to be.. Wishing to show.. More than every eye in this Universe Can aspire to know Between eyes and eyes A purple orchid surrenders its petals.. Delicate but powerful in its connection Within the Comfort of two distinct souls Destined to meet Destined to converge To comply with distant Yet daunting memoirs.. Diverging and Scattering Between eyes and eyes Abstracts of diffused oblivion Of Welcoming illusion.. Relapsing into a precipice of now Only hope and a shooting star.. Between eyes and eyes Eternal awakening lies.. In love there is no demise! copyright@2001

Dear Ashu: Since Adwiti has never been to Nepal, she is sadly ignored in our media.Indian national media had publicized the news of her being prized last year. She apparently still had some clips with her from Statesman. She is being promoted very well in Auburn, and local newspapers have written about her very favorably. It is so nice that with each articles about her, people learn about Nepal. Since you are in Nepal, you can send this poem in a good paper ,and also include a short introduction about her. I also suggest you to contact her directly. One final thing: her poetry recital is really captivating and permeated with artistic emotion!

Namaste' It is indeed an honour to be introduced to this site as Biswa had very favourable things to say about it. It was so wonderful to see Biswa in my poetry recital on Sunday. The nepali support was very welcoming and heart warming. Like I said in my interview in the "Plainsman", Auburn, Although my poetry is in English, the essence is very Himalayan.I will be visiting Nepal sometime in May and would love to meet up with fellow writers and artists. I would also like to thank Biswa for introducing me as Nepali acknowledgement is also very important to me, as that is truly my " astitwa". Dhanyabaad, Ani Nepali Salaam, Adwiti subba

The poem is a beautiful one, a thing of joy. Also, I am so pleased by the way Adwiti Subba used word "astitwa" in her posting, here. I wish you, Adwiti Subba, more and more success. I want to see you grow "Aakas ko uta patti samma". sparsha

"Since Adwiti has never been to Nepal, she is sadly ignored in our media" Biswa, I just wanted to let you know that I have been to Nepal, about twice in a fifteen year period!! And, you know what?I have written several poems about Nepal in my poetry book as well. Actually I love Nepal:~) Having not been there on a regular basis I may have been overlooked by the media in Nepal. The subject matter of my poetry being so influenced by my heritage gives the exposure even more meaning. Namaste' Adwiti Subba
