What the heck is happening in this World Cup? First, the humiliating elimination of France - the world champions from last time. Now, it's Argentina packing their bags to go home. And they were supposed to be so good that even if they broke into two teams they would still be strong enough to win it all. Tomorrow morning, it's Mexico vs Italy, in which if Italy loses, they too might be heading out. All this in the very first round. Oh boy, phew, this has been an amazing tournament. England all the way, baby.

This world cup has been very entertaining and unpredictable so far. All the football-gurus must be scratching their heads thinking – where did I go wrong? Tournament favorites, France and Argentina are out. France should be thankful to Germany for pounding Saudis. France just could have gone from World champs to the last place finish. Who says Asians can’t compete in football? Saudis gonna be closer to the World camps (previous) in standings, aren’t they? Paraguay knew what they needed to do to book a room for themselves in round of 16. A goal behind and with ten men in the field, they managed to pull off a 3-1 victory against Slovenia to advance. How about Nelson Cuevas? He got some moves or what? English needs to play offensive football if they want to get closer to their goals. Spain still looks good in offense but has problems in defense. Brazil needs to ask Rivaldo to STOP acting. He isn’t gonna get an OSCAR but definitely accumulate Yellows since refs aren’t gonna buy anything from him now on. Do you think both the home teams will make it to the second round? Korea has to play against Portugal, the team that showed their offensive talents in the last match, where as Japan will be playing against Tunisia. Who will lift the cup? I will let the football-gurus scratch their heads.

Amazing tournament! I have a feeling it's gonna be Germany, Brazil, Spain and England in the last four. But you never know. What do you guys think? -- Foosball

My American friend said only thing he liked about soccer is that there is no time-out and it's commercial-free. I now seem to agree with him that there is not much excitment during the soccer game. NO Goals or just 1-2 goals. The value of time if not much if it's less than 10 minutes unlike American football or basketball where spare of seconds can turnaround the ballgame, which brings excitment for fans to stay in the game. And a good team does not necessarily win if they are down early when the other team starts using 11 players in defense. That's what happened to Argentina. They were down by 1 goal before the game started coz other team needed 0-0 to advance. So, I say it's luck you need in soccer. That's why it's been unpredictable so far. Guys, don't be surprised if all good teams could not make the quarterfinal. After all, any team is capable of beating the others with defense and some luck.

>good teams?? on what basis...?? >no team is good if it can not deliver. Good teams based on their past/history/expectations/rankings etc. During '98 world cup final Brazil didn't deliver for some reason. But I still call them good team, don't you?

I was going for Argies not realizing the weakness of the team. I think Maradona has lot to do with impact on fans despite of its poor performance. "Bawu bajey ko aad ley kuti summa janey? " Even the Argies won today, how long would it go? I think a team can not be considered a good team with redundant mistakes. Think of the penalty kick today. It is the extent of its inaptitude even to be in 2nd round. Inspite of being a fan, I am sorry to say that Argies got what they deserved. Nonetheless, I am doing my best to push these two teams from Asia until they wear out.

Refrees are partially resposible for making of a good team with their bad judgements. Now most of the teams are equally qualified to be called a "good team", its only the timing and amount of luck that differentiates.
