I really want to encourage anyone who has received an award or prize, such as Adwiti, to send press release to Nepali news media such as Kathmandu Post and Kantipur. Probably if the Indian media covered the award, it was because somebody from India sent a press release or was at the event. It is really up to us to come forward and let people in Nepal know what is happening here, so far away! From my experience the way newspapers work is that editors are open to printing positive news about the accomplishments of Nepalis. To be published in Nepal, when it comes to poetry or literary work, it is very hard if you are not physically there to knock on doors. (I have actually found America easier in this respect, as American journals seem more open to "blind submissions" which, hopefully, they judge on quality.) But in regards to news, don't be discouraged and think editors will be unreceptive if you are not physically in Nepal. I would really like to encourage Adwiti, or anyone who has such positive news, to send a press release and perhaps also fax any news clippings from the US. The saying is true indeed: "Bolneko pitho pani bikcha, nabolneko chaamal pani bikdaina." Hom Raj.
