Adwiti,
Congratulation for your achievement. We are proud of you.
Just curious to know what you think of these:
A writer can not remain aloof with his/her surroundings and almost ever, the writer tries to give expressions to what he/she has been seeing, experiencing and living. The political, cultural and social situation in Nepal is certainly different than that in the USA and hence the poetry arising out of these two places can become markedly different in their content and style. In this regard,
(1) What is the primary duty of a writer/poet? Is a writer supposed to bring change in society? Or should a writer be just true to HIMSELF/HERSELF and follow the path of truth, wherever it may lead? Should a writer compromise art and beauty with some political message?
(2) How can the writings of Nepalese writers encompass poetic universality? Is it already happening or in the process of happening? Or are there some external factors that we can use to expedite it?
(3) Some say - Bhoko pet lai kavita haina roti deu. Ke Garne?

Dear Gokul,
Thank you very much for your best wishes. I wish you the same.

Gokul…... I do not think there is one primary duty for a writer/poet. Writers can have diverse duties. Yes, some can be motivated to write about changes in the society, some just inspired by the mountains around Nepal. One is not better than the other. Some may even just write for the sake of writing. It all depends on what the poet/writer wants out of his/her art. And why should a writer compromise in any way? Even a political message can be art and therefore beautiful in its own way.

2) How can the writings of Nepalese writers encompass poetic universality? Is it already happening or in the process of happening? Or are there some external factors that we can use to expedite it?

Yes, I must say it is already happening. Awareness is the most important part of growth, and I am so pleased to see the young people of Nepal taking active part in social and mainly literary developments. You…. are making differences! Sometimes it is hard to see your own progress. So lets be patient and continue to be supportive of Nepalese achievements and advancements in every little way we can.

There is of course the ridiculous hypothesis that writers/artists are always hungry! That does not have to be so. We can change it. We have to understand that we have choices in life and believe in power of the Universe /God who will provide if we choose to lead an abundant life. If one focuses on not having “roti” then he/she will continue not to have “roti”
