'Sun Sun Pan Bharni Ge Kani Ghuriyo Ke Tak' might be easiest to do which is a first Maithili Lok Geet sung by Udit Narayan Jha. Maithili Songs are hard to find in the Web, but I can give you some interesting links where you can find more information: Try these for songs: http://www.musicindiaonline.com/music/l/WW000C2Y http://www.mithila.org/mlang.html Trye these for other maithali sites and ifnfo http://www.asianart.com/exhibitions/jwdc http://www.indianest.com/festivals/00509.htm Interestingly I found about Janakpur when I was browsing the net for answering your question: http://www.janakpuronline.com Good luck and have fun.

Mr event organizer, Could you please give us more information about the event (venue, date etc.) you are going to organize. The event and sajha.com itself may be a good way of linking all the maithili speaking community across the world. I support your enthusiasm for organizing the event. Mr/Ms mithila basi, could you please explain what region, if clealry recognized in maithil samaj, represents ' mithila' ? My first language is maithili too, but i am not sure if i should call myself a 'mithila basi' coz I know I don't live in mithila. Proud to be a maithil

"Mithila is an ancient cultural region of South Nepal and North India lying between the lower ranges of the Himalayas and the Ganges River. The Nepal border cuts across the top fringe of this region. The Gandak and Kosi Rivers are rough western and eastern boundaries of Mithila The Ramayana records a dynastic marriage between Prince Rama of Ayodhya and Sita, the daughter of Raja Janak of Mithila. The town of Janakpur, in the northern Nepali section of Mithila, is believed to be Janak's old capital. And Sita is a Mithila girl." The above text is directly copied from "www.janakpuronline.com" link I posted earlier. Shudha Maithil, liteally I am not Mithila Basi either at present. But, at one time I was and my family is still in Mithila. But, you don't have to be so particular about being a basi or not. As you feel proud of saying you are a Maithil I feel proud of saying I am a Mithila basi. In my opinion all Nepalese can call themselves Mithila basi. Nepal is as much a Budha's birth place as it is birth place of Bhrikuti and Janaki (Sita).

I was surprised to learn that maithili language ranks 40 in the world. source : http://www.mithila.org/mlang.html So many people out there speak this little known language. We defintely should gear up to intoduce this language into the world arena where people are after spanish and chinese language. www.janakpuronline.com and www.mithila.org are doing a great job in expanding the border of it's recognition. I'm sure there are other sites too, but i liked these two a lot.

Yehi Thiya Tikuli Ge Harai Gaile Daiya Ge.... Yestai yestai geet thiyo euta. I think it is in one of the Nepali movies which has Nautanki scene it it. My friends used to dance on this song very much. That should be perfect for event. Let's try to find that.... May be you have already found one from those so many links. I will also try.. if I find, I will give the link.

Dear friends, I am still looking and thank you for all the tips...What an overwhelming response. Though I am not a Mathili, I have a lot of respect for the culture. There are few people that want to perform for an event in October at Portland State University in Oregon. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thx for the links provided above. I have been able to learn so many new things about this wonderful culture. thx
