Driving the Beetle will be journalist Kanak Mani Dixit, Chair of the Spinal Injury Sangha Nepal, which runs the Rehabilitation Centre. Dixit helped open the Centre after he miraculously survived and recovered from a broken back, the result of a trekking accident in August 2000. The Rehabilitation Centre was inaugurated on 7 April 2002 by Sir Edmund Hillary. The very first quarter has shown the critical need for such an institution, to help spinally injured Nepalis reconstruct their lives to the extent possible. The Centre is hosting patients in need of urgent medical attention and rehabilitation, individuals who otherwise had no place to turn to.
