Favorite food I've never found in the US: lapsi ko achar and gundruk. I've seen a recipe for gundruk using an oven, but haven't tried it ... Which brings to mind a really good idea for the Colorado convention (ARE YOU LISTENING, 'HORIZON'???): with all that nice high altitude sun, how about preparing a whole bunch of gundruk and various achars? Y'all could make it right on your back porches (or redwood decks or whatever.) Serve it at the banquet and grateful convention-goers will be raving about it for weeks!

Hi NepGirl, Since I don't cook, gundruk masyeura wouldn't be a good deal. If you are serious, you can mail me some golbheda ko achar:). Haven't had it for quite sometime!. And for all others who are being aware of our deal( and somewhat jealous), i hope that you resist your mouth-watering. This deal is protected by copyright.;) And the next time you post something about delicious nepalese food, please do not forget to post "Caution" on the subject line. :):)

Sally Nani :) You seem to really miss lapsi-ko-achar. Well, it's your lucky day! No, we haven't found Lapsi as such, but we have tried and succeeded a superb substitute. Even the veteran Nepali ladies can't tell the difference. Here is what my wife does (it's not my forte): It is Rhubarb, my dear. Ok, you know Rhubarb looks like celery or 'Karkalo'. Break and take the 'veins or Nasa' (you know what I mean) like you would do to celery or Karkalo. Make small pieces (one inch long or so. No need to measure though:)) In a deep pan, fry (fooraune), according to taste, 'sonp or boke jeera', methi, khursanee, and regular jeera if you like. If you know how to make lapsi ko achar (you seem to know it), you know how much to put. Then put rhubarb pieces in the pan and cover. Stir occasionally. In a few minutes the rhubarb pieces will turn into a paste like substance. If it is too thick add water. Add sugar, salt, khursanee according to taste. Bingo. Try and share the enjoyment and thank my wife. Substitute Cook
