July 10 – One Nepali woman was among a few who were arrested in a raid at Governor's Square Mall in Tallahassee of Florida in a series of search by investigators in various parts of United States on jewelry stores hoping to discover financial backing for terrorist groups, a report from the Associated Press reveals. However, the report has not named the arrested Nepali woman nor does it provide further information describing what condition she might be in. All it says is that immigration attorney Neil Rambana, who is representing three other Pakistani men arrested in the same raid, is also representing her. Meanwhile, the report also bears quotes accusing the US officials of "abusing people's rights" in the hopes that there were a few guilty people among them. "There is no proof and no one has presented any evidence that would put these people (including the Nepali woman) under suspicion," Rambana is quoted as saying. The raids are said to have taken place in several cities over the past two weeks, including Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Atlanta and New York where dozens of foreigners, mostly from Pakistan, have been detained or questioned. "The largest raids took place between June 8 and July 2 when agents swept jewelry stores in Pennsylvania, Florida, California, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and North Carolina…Since then, smaller raids have taken place in Texas, California and Massachusetts," the report adds.
