This site is awesome! I feel it serves a great purpose for the Nepalese community in and out of our beloved country Nepal.

I am really very curious about the profile of people who actively participate in this forum. So, in this thread I would like to request with all of you to introduce yourself (without really giving away lots of your privacy). Please, please, please!!!!

Let me get started by introducing myself:

Name: Logical Sense (I believe in logic, so I chose this as my Web name)
Live: US (West of Mississippi)
Nepal root: Proud to say ‘not from Kathmandu’ (Love Kathmandu though!)
When did I leave Nepal (if any): 15+ years (frequent long visits)
Age: Uhile Gadha Pachisi Nagheko (30+)
Education: BS+ (Where? Nepal, India, US)
Sex: Male
Marital Status:Yes (A Nepali? Definitely. Arrange? No way!)

Profession: Software Engineer
Hobby: Mentoring/Teaching
What I like: To contribute in Nepal’s endeavor for economic prosperity
What I despise: Current Nepalese leaders (For lack of their vision more than anything
else)
My fantasy: Be future prime minister of Nepal (I can see Nepal easily becoming
Switzerland of Asia – no kidding!)

Logical sense,
I appreciate your idea. But what i personally feel is : Reading all the posts on this forum without knowing the background of the writer is much more enjoyable and "thoughtable" than reading something posted by a writer whose background we are aware of. Knowing the identity and the background of the post-er automatically makes us bias(or the opposite) towards his or her posts.(specially when we try to ( i assume it automatically happens!) link the writer's identity and background with the stuff he or she has posted). I don't think identity is much important to have a clean, healthy and unbiased discussion.
just my thought.

Dear (*)Y(*),

Good point, and at one time I struggled with similar idea before posting this thread. But, in reality don't you think that we already know the profile of most of the regular contributers here?

All it takes to read the past posting of Ashu, Biswo, Paschim, NK, HGji, Sparsha, Suman Dhakal and many more to know exactly where they stand in the issues and what are their backgrounds.

Also, I really don't want any personal information. Just a general idea, for example, looking at my profile, all you can say about me is I am a moderately liberal Nepali very interested in well being of Nepal. Other personal information is really vague and left for the reader to imagine. Who knows I have two PHD's or just a BS? Am I a 50 old or 31 year old? I am from Oklahoma or Alaska?

In the lighter note though, I really want to know the profile of those who are 'silent readers' who just enjoy reading in the forum and do not necessarily post something. Rememer I want to be Prime Minister of Nepal, so I need to understand the effective means of communication with my 'people'. Sajha is going to be one of my important medium to stay in touch with 'intellecual communities'.

This discussions should really go into another thread, and this thread should be left for the introduction only. My personal request.

One more important question (be innovative and add on your own if you want to):

How long you spent time in Sajha.com? At least 4hours/week in my case.

Name: Mother Goose
Live: North of the U.S.
Birth Place: Some swamp in north of the U.S.
Education:
Formal: None
Informal: plenty. How to catch a fish, how to walk in a line, how to quack when an enemy approaches ... approximatly for 3 moths
Interest: Fly to the south of the border when the going gets tough especially in winter and catch fish, of course
Best time of the year: Mating season
Marital Status: Serial monogamy
Sex: are you blind or what?

Aspiration:
To be the mother goose of all the mother geese and earn lots of money selling some sort of computer software (for that I guess I have to wait for another internet boom)and get the ANA award for Mother Goose of the Year.
Diff Name, Diff Game Posted on 12-Jul-02 09:40 AM

I am against profiling - I don't want to make assumptions about a person based on his or her age, educational background, gender and marital status. For me this forum is more about discussing ideas than the people behind those ideas. If I am interested in knowing anyone in particular I write to them and introduce myself.
