Maoists threat mourners not to perform last rites

AKALGHARUWA (Banke), July 12 - The bereaved family members of Sohanlal Yadav and Moti Tamauli, who were killed in a most wretched and barbaric act of terror unleashed by the Maoists rebels on Tuesday night, have not been able to perform the last rites of their beloved ones.

Yadav and Tamauli’s funerals could not take place even today after the Maoists rebels issued fresh warning to kill the mourners too.

The widow Jayakali said that she had not been able to feed her kids for the last three days and that her children, who have been forcefully made orphan looked in hollow eyes for the arrival of food. And yet, nothing has come from the government or from the locals to feel their grief-stricken bellies.

After she received renewed threat that Maoists were again attacking her 18-year-old son who was to attend his father’s funeral today, Jayakali Tamauli, the widow of slain Tamauli, asked her son to stop performing the funeral rites of her husband.

“There is none to support us, nobody to protect my son. We have not even a cup of water to drink…everything has been devastated. In such a situation, how will the funeral take place?” Tamauli spoke.

Tamauli’s husband was dragged out from his house and was brutally killed while her house was burnt down to ashes during the three-hour-long plunder and massacre in her village by the Maoists on Tuesday night. However, the 70-year-old father of slain Yadav, said he would go ahead with the funeral of his son undaunted by Maoists threats.

Meanwhile, the horror of Tuesday night has not only left hundreds of villagers scared away to death but also forced hundreds of them out of their houses as Maoists again threatened to attack them.

Maobadis are worthless and senseless criminals in the society. These criminals should be eradicated from the society ASAP.

Cuban revolution started with the revolutionary communist idea, now these so called communist gurillas are now drug lords. This is where I see the maobadi movement going to be ten years from now.

I feel ashamed myself to be nepali becoz of the coward act of maos. everyone has the right to believe on thier own path but this is not the way to bring revolution in the counrty. I dont know wat they are fightin for? for the people of nepal or for watever? Maos is totally wrong.

Desh Bhakta,

If you are not one of those lunatic Maoists, what are you ashamed of? I am proud NOT ashamed to be called as a Nepali.

Most of these so called "maoists" are fighting for anarchism-manaparitantra.

They say they are fighting for justice, good governance, equality, sarbahara ko sasan...etc and against "ATYACHAR".

Yeah! right. Looks like so! Sounds like so.

Those cruel comrades need bullet nothing else.

Desh Bhakta, NOT us but they who are lunatic enough to resort themselves to gruesome violence should be ashamed. They are not Nepalis but terrorists. I am not ashamed for some terrorists' act.

Ram, ram. ram!!
these maoist are sinning against laws of man and laws of god...first to hack to death a poor peasant infornt of his wife and children, then not allow them to cremate or bury the dead!
It now makes sense why it is called the 'people's war', because they enjoy killing ordinary people like their ancestors Pol Pot. they don't touch the rich, corrupt, politicians and capitalists in Kathmandu.
Here I express my heartfelt sorrow for the death of these village folks and suffering of their orphans and widow.
I also condemn the barbaric acts of the Maoists, they now have no moral right to say they are doing this for the people or Nepal.
By the way, where are our Human rights leaders? Or does a villager not have human right or he/she is not human at all? It looks like Nepal's Manabadhikar Manch is actually
Maoadhikar Manch. regretful. they shed tears only for Maobadi deaths.
Just like putting a lot of public pressure on government makes it to reduce its killing innocent people, similar public voice against the Maoist will force the maoists to avoid harming unarmed, harmless villagers. while Human right organizations challenge the government, they can not give free moral licesense to the Maoists, if they claim to be neutral. but if human rights are Maobadis, no comments.
Let us pray for peace in Nepal!

human rights are also the maoist acting only in background. they dont do anything besides criticizng people, government and nothing else. if maoist goes on rampage, they wont say anthing. i regard human rights as one of hte moaist too. so please human rights people look for the betterment of human rights, just dont call urself one of them or u'l be simply noting but regard as maoist only.
