May I suggest instead of Boulder that the Denver Convention Center be used. In Boulder there are fewer hotels which cannot accomodate large crowds. Around the convention center in Denver are many hotel of varying prices. "Poor" students can find inexpensive lodging and take care of their own reservations. More "well-to-do professionals can also find more suitable housing according to their lifestyle. The convention center will be the site of the convention where people will gather each morning. Why should all the business be given to one single hotel. If the organizing committee wishes to negotiate with each of the surrounding hotels for a group rate, they may, otherwise attendees will have to negotiate their own rate. This way there can be a single fee for use of the convention center. The price of all convention center activities can be incorporated into a single, reasonable fee for all. If you did not pay the convention center fee, you will not be admitted to the convention center and activities scheduled there. It will require everyone to pay a fat fee or not admittance. This will free the organizers to deal with fewer service providers and allow attendees more options in housing and food service. Waiting for your replies. http://www.denver.org/planners/homf.htm

"Boulder will be better coz it's near the mountain." What has mountain to do with Boulder being more better for the convention? I thought discussion forums sole purpose is to amalgamate different innovative and creative cognate ideas. I have been long noticing the public forum at GBNC /Sajha being overused by trash talks over intellect one.

What I mean was Boulder has lots of thing to do and it's really mellow and calm place. I just thoughht people would like that, That's it. It was just a suggestion. Its'not up to us to decide where the convention is going to be next so lets just leave it up to the ANA.

Deluge, I am finding you as a trash talker. Boulder is still better coz it has mountain. Boulder is more better coz people around there know where Nepal is. Boulder is better coz most Nepalese people live around. Boulder is better coz must Nepalese find it as Dharan/Pokhara. Philadelphia convention was liked by many people coz it was in the suburbs. DC convention tried arranging but we know it was one of the best venues that could be found around there. Boulder will provide the same feelings. How many of us did attend all forums this year or did you attend any forum on the convention? Convention to me is to meet old friend, make new friends and enjoy the Nepalese atmosphere. Sajha forum is also for some of un-intellect people like me. . Learn some thing please!!

It's now clear why Boulder to be a place for a convention. Mr. Pauna If you read the first postiong from Rekha, it's simply unclear why Boulder?

If you are going to post, do your homework first. "Boulder has a mountain." Great, but Boulder does not have a hotel large enough to handle ANA group. Conference groups of 500 or more people regularly are turned away from Boulder because the city has no public meeting facilities that can handle that large a crowd. At present, local hotels can accommodate only up to 250 to 300 people. So if they can't accomodate our group, why select that place. All it has is "a mountain". The meetings market manager for the Boulder Convention and Visitors Bureau, said only four hotels are large enough to hold meetings in Boulder -- the Regal Harvest House, the Hotel Boulderado, the Boulder Marriott and the Broker Inn. Most of these hotels can hold a group of up to 250 people for a two-day meeting with meals. Boulder generally hosts more meetings in the summer than in the winter since it's not a ski destination. But in the summer months, the few meeting properties available are packed, and many groups are turned away. These conventions are planned years ahead. Boulder receives requests from large groups in and out of state that are holding annual meetings of 1,000 to 2,000 people. "They can't even bring in 500 people,". How can they accomodate our 5,000 people then? Raintree Plaza Hotel Suites and Conference Center in Longmont has 30,000 square feet of conference space. Groups at the Raintree range from 50 to 250 people. Still not enough for our group. The University of Colorado often holds conferences on campus. Only non-profit groups, academic and sports associations, however, conferences can use the universitiess facilities for meetings, that includes us. One major final advantage that Denver offers is the University Campus with soccer field, basketball court, and best of all housing affordable by students. Everyone could stay in the University dorms for a very reasonable fee because the students would be on vacation and the dormitories will be empty. The university regularly rents the dormitories for converences to outside groups. More well-to-do participants can stay at local hotels. Generally, the university hosts some 140 conferences a year serving up to 20,000 people. Meeting space, theater space and cafeteria services can also be negotiated. This is my final posting on this topic. If you are not clever enough to select an appropriate site you don't need me anymore. My continued services are not free.

It sounds like Denver is better place to have converntion. I do agree with bill. If we can stay in dorm, which is always cheaper than Hotel ( Since I am student and love to attend convention and play soccer too ) then Denver is better choice than Boulder. Please don't waste too much time in picking up venues, otherwise it will be taken away by others. I thin," future" organizers have not done any home work yet. If you are still struggle to find a place then organizing it is even difficult. Just a warning to you guys. Please act smart. Good luck guys....... We want good soccer field and women volleyball ? Cheers to Denver Converntion..... bill's friend, dill

1974AD was here this year and so far reviews have been great. But do we want them again next year since they will not even have a new album by then. Instead, why not Nepathya? I am sure they can rock too. Just a thought.

Potala Ji, Denver is a great place to have ANA so is Boulder. It's up to ANA and Friends of Rocky Mountain to decide where to have the next ANA. Here are some good and bads about Boulder and denver. Good Bad Denver Lots of nepalis Too Crouded Big hotels Not enough parking lot CU at Denver Denver Metro Good Bad CU at Boulder Not so big Shopping mall Boulder Mountains (nature) Only 5 big hotels Out door activity Little more expensive than Denver Not crouded Lots of parking lot Some more great things about Boulder is most of the people actually know where Nepal is. Lots of people living in Boulder has been to Nepal. CU will be a great place to have ANA. If not then Boulder High School because it has huge audotorium, lot of nice and big places to play sports and it's right next to the Boulder Mall (Pearl Street Mall). Last but not least like someone said above. It looks like Dharan and Kathmandu. It's right next to the mountains. Boulder has lots of netural beauty and has lots of things to do out here. It seems like you live in Colorado as well. If you don't know 1974 AD, Deep Shrestha are performing in Denver at August 4th and their opening band is LiMiT 3. Hope to see you there.

My feeling is that if you want to see something other than the inside of a hotel, then Boulder is the place to be. Who cares about big shopping malls??? Pearl St Mall has great (and unique) shopping, if that's the deal breaker. Who wants to travel across the country to go to The Gap, anyway? CU has perfectly good convention facilities, plus sports facilities. Every single event does not have to be held in once location. And Rekha is right about there being lots of Boulderites who've been to Nepal, which means that convention activities in Boulder would be likely to draw a fair crowd of non-Nepalis. They'd probably come for both cultural shows and forums. The same crowd would not drive to Denver, though. Plus, if it's the July 4 weekend again, everyone will get to see the fireworks at the CU stadium--from pretty much wherever they are in town. Whereas Denver, forget it, no one will see anything ... not July 4, not Colorado ... just the hotel. Which may be fine. Depends on what you want.

I am not sure if this has been mentioned already ( i didn't read the whole thread). After looking at the pictures and reading complaints from men and women not finding good looking men and women, how about having dress codes in some events? For example if you're doing soemthing in the auditorium or something like a cultural show, have them show up with some nice daura suruwal or whatever they look good in. But please no more shorts and a tee! I know, you're gonna say, "but we're looking at something outdoors". Sure we don't need dress codes for that :) just wondering
