“Ye oo pani tyatai aako chha” he said. I was quite surprised. Suman was saying he’s planning on going to Italy not the US. I asked him again, “when? Nikkai bhai sakyo ki ke ho?” “ Hoina, Bharkhar Bharkhar jastai ho” He replied. I had recently spoken with another friend of mine (Suman’s as well) in Kathmandu but he didn’t mention anything about Suman coming to Boston. I was still thinking what a surprise. “Prakas aako thiyo oo sangai gayo…” He spoke again. Prakas was from Rajbiraj and was attending a college in New Hampshire. I knew he was in Nepal for two weeks but didn’t know he was having good time in Biratnagar. “Oh! Prakas aako thiyo?” I asked this redundant question. “Yes” He said. “Tyahi America ma padhne Rajbiraj ko Prakas?” I just wanted to make sure that we’re talking about the same guy. “Tyahi” he replied. Do you know Suman’s phone number? I asked. “What?” he seemed confused. “His phone number”, I repeated. “Ke koora garya, yahi ta ho ni Suman ko phone number…” he said. “Haina haina, yaha ko usko phone number” I tried to make things clear. “kahako tyahako?” He asked. He sounded really confused. I said , “yaha boston ko”. Ko ga chha ra Boston? Kasko phone number khojeko Boston ma?” he asked again. Now he caused me confusion. “Suman ko ni, aghi Suman yatai Boston tira bharkharai aako chha bhannu bha haina Prakas sanga?” “Hyeeeeeee……kata ko Boston….Suman ta Prakas lai puryauna tyaha BUS STAND tira ga chha bhanya ta….”

Sorry, the above post is incomplete. ---------------------------- Suman chha? I called a friend of mine in Biratnagar from Boston. “Chhaina, Bahir ga chha..” A man responded. “Bahir where?” I asked again. The person on the other end responded with his own question “ko bolya?…kaha bata?” “Ma deep…BOSTON bata” I had nothing to hide, so I replied.
