Basically it's classical north and south indian fused with the modern electonica, sometimes called Tablatronix. Songs make use of sarangi, sitar, tabla and various south asian classical music elements. check out http://www.mp3.com/catmando also check out http://www.karshkale.com http://www.tablatronics.net http://www.talvin.com http://www.ethnotechno.com check this forum at masala.com ,it's got comments from various producer in this genre including myself. http://208.156.38.113/Forum4/HTML/000630.html Hope it was helpful, if you wanna know more about the Asian massive movement ( the new american name for the same Genre) lemme know. cheers

Asiantric daju, indeed whatever you posted was very helpful. It's not that i am totally not aware of it, but after coming from Nepal 5 years ago and residing between NYC nd London, I have been bombarded with this Asian massive moment. To all the people I have talked to, It seems to me Asian underground is always associated with drum and bass. Why isnt it laced with house, tribal, break beat or jazz, or any other genre?Everything that comes out as a AU, seems too lame and boring nowadays. It's same loops and hooks. I haven't come across any good music lately, if you have any good reco? The only good music I can really recall is CALCUTTA CYBER CAFE by TALVIN. That was a while ago if you know what I meant. Let's keep posted As they always said MAN MAKES MUSIC AND MUSIC MAKES MAGIC..................:O)
