"Good and evil, reward and punishment, are the only motives to a rational creature: these are the spur and reins whereby all mankind are set on work, and guided." (Locke.) Bothers me quite a bit. No, no I am not talking about all these postings. Well, that too. But I was thinking of a 2 month-old-baby wrapped in a Palestinian flag on her way to burial ground. I am not going to speculate on political situation of those two regions and world’s role but only on my anger. When a bomb goes off in Jerusalem or in Gaza or the West Bank and I hear the number of people dead and wounded and, so many were children among the dead my heart stops. I know life is a life; whether it is children’s life or adult’s. But a child’s death in such a violent way makes me want to go there and scream, “Stop, just stop.” I get mad and bewildered at the heartlessness of the Palestinians and I get disgusted with Israel when their missile targets a densely populated area where they know very well that children are there. Does Israel have any moral standard? The same thing they condemn - terrorist attacks on their civilian population by suicide bombers- they themselves perpetuate on their enemies. Yes, yes, they apologize aftermath when the heat gets turned on. When I see these atrocities on both sides and think about it, I am convinced now I am the one who is at fault. My understanding of human nature was based on false assumption. I assume we are inherently good and moral and just. If you look around isn’t it apparent it is not so? Thus the anger and bewilderment -being proven so wrong. We are greedy. We are murderous. We are unjust. I stand right along with Hobbes. We are self-serving. Otherwise how would you explain all that has happened throughout the history? (Of course there are some exceptions.) If we did not have a fear of law/punisment/reprisal we would be looting right now. So if these goons in Israel think They Are The Law, what would stop them? Nothing. The high moral ground they take when innocent lives are taken on their side goes out the window when they are not the victims but aggressors. Is there ever going to be peace? Will people ever be humane (!)? Will people stop posting mindless, filled with sexual violence against a female sex posters, raw hatred toward women and men - here in Sajha board? Very unlikely. (of course the deterrent factor is reprisal,) So friends tighten your seat bealt and hold on to the guard rails. We are here might as well be prepared for the ride. You were not asked if you wanted to be born (that is where I think the problem starts) and you will not be asked if you want to leave this world. And I am sure you will not ask your neighbor if it is all right if you steal some money from them, murder his children or bomb some houses here and there and ask your government if you can skew earnings of your company’s income statement to hoard millions. And, you, my dear sajha posters (who like to spread the filth) will certainly not ask yourself what is acceptable behavior in private as well as public. Enjoy everybody as long as it lasts and as long as you are not caught. Sharon and Arafat, and Lay, and yes of course Foxy and Riva and long don and likes of them are doing it, why not you?

Got glasses and some empty brain too this time. Evil and Angel are part of every human. Some people are full of evil and some are dominated by angel. Both genetic and environmental factors interact with people's these very two nature. Alikati gene determines the nature and alikati environment where one lives affects it. Demon inside a body is never eliminated but supressed. No cure for this... do life long meditation or be a saint...still it's there. I think BP Koirala has written some story on this. Only time can tell who will survive. Patience dwells in every human being. To break the patience needs more energy and quick force. Patience builds up more patience with no outside efforts. Evil attacks on other's patience, with full force and it turn empties its energy too soon to withstand the angel power. Let's wait until time comes and clouds clear. Demons can't last long. They will have to blow off their energy too quick. Patience! Patience! Patience!!!

Dear ID: 81034030, thank you for understanding my gahiro humor:)). I was holding my breath for another lashing out all because somebody did not get it. Do you know what I have been thinking? Hinduism is so often derided as fatalistic. I think these detractors don't get it. When you have seen it all especially the extent of people's devilishness and the death and all inequality all you can say is Om! Sansar mithya ho. I mean otherwise how would you explain somebody who lost her family in a flood whose only sin was to be poor? The only way to understand viciousness and murder and poverty and all other baaaad things is to be detached. And Buddhism got the core of Hinduism and made it central of their philosopy - Detachment. So if you tell the sufferers to be detached and think this world is nothing but 'maya' you have to tell the privileged class the same thing too. Like "Hey don't get too happy about your fortune, it might go away, so be prepared." Of course, most likely the rich and the non suferers might enjoy their good fortune generation to generation. But, for the suffering class that warning and is a big relief. When is misery happy? Yes, you got it. When it has company or possibility of a company. And understanding we are all equal in this ride. Do Not Be Dispirited If You Are At The Recieving End. Because this is all Maya. Now either you can take this philosophy as pessimistic/fatalistic or, make it a guiding force to live a full life. Wickedness and Murderous Intentions are Us. There is no denying on that.

Gahiro Kura Tara Mul Kura Birsya? NK you eluded little bit but the main point on all the things happening in the Middle East, South Asia, or US at this moment is because of lack of (deteriorating) deterrents and checks and balances in place. Palestenians think the suicide bombers are equivalent deterrents for American made F16s Israil uses. People like you and me are not ready to accept it. We only think Mig is the answer for F16s, but, if you don't have money and resouces to make your point what you do? (You scream profanity in Sajha but how about in real World?) Arab worlds can't get out of their spiral of backwardness that it is no threat to American dada giri. What could Palestinian kids do who spent their life in refugee camp, no present, and no future for them? What we need is another Super power as fast as possible. Not like Soviet time, but, more like economic super power. China and India by themselves can't do it in short run, they need to combine the forces as soon as possible (Nepal can play a big role in it :-) ). EU is another viable super power. In fact triangular super power is the best solution for present crisis and future balance. First one is obvious (US, UK, Japan etc), second one is EU in europe and part of Asia, Third one should come from Asia especially China and India in the lead role (don't laugh, things are in progress - you might get amused). Rest of the countries will make their choices which side they want to incline to. This will really lead to great competition, research and development, more checks and balances, and global prosperity. - eeti

NK, Your hint of frustration is well noted. Although you have a bit of twists of irony in your writing intermingled with sajha posters, such frustrations are, believe it or not, nothing new. If you were trying to put a lid on some of the filths being posted here you may have proven your point. If not however, let me express my thoughts if I may. Without being too philosophical, I tend to view the world this way: when has the world become problem-free? As long as there are humans, there will be human-related problems (i.e. racism, religion, nationalism, elitism). If such problems were to disappear humans will surely become extinct. It's as simple as that. There is no human life without problems. And why stop at the Middle East conflict, the corporate ethics problem, and the dilemmas of the sajha posters? Why not mention the ever-increasing AIDS epidemic and hunger-related problems in Africa, recent US bombing of innocent bystanders at a Afghani wedding, the lives of young Nepali girls ruined by sex traffickers, or the assistant Dean from Princeton who thought he could get away with hacking into Yale's server recently? And there are plenty more. Now, I know obviously you could not possibly write about every single problem in the world, or are they really ‘problems’? Who are we to judge them as ‘problems’? It depends on the point of view of an innate being, doesn't it? And this is the root of the problem itself. Every individual has a different interpretation of every problem in the world. Someone might argue and proclaim that they are indeed not problems, but proper justifications to support their cause. So, if you think deep enough, these problems (if you want to call them that) are what make our world go around. In contrast to popular belief, someone out there is trying to resolve these issues the way they see fit ( remember, this may be disputed by some who do not see the issue-at hand as a problem ), and I emphasize the word 'trying'. Now, don't think too hard about them, because if you do you may end up seeing a shrink somewhere in Boston ;o) But here is a way you can avoid seeing the psychiatrist: what does this all boil down to? PRIORITIES. That's what. What do you think is most important to you? Would you like to have a meeting with Sharon and Arafat over a falafel and sautéed portabella dinner? Would you like to throw a lemon pie stuffed with Texas style barbecued brisket at Lay? Or would you prefer to become an 'Identity Crisis Counselor' for Foxy and Riva? Essentially what I am babbling is take your French bread, cut them into little pieces, but only eat them one piece at a time, so you won't choke. If you do as prescribed, your world will become that much more fulfilling than you ever thought possible. And as such, your frustrations are left in the dust somewhere in the potato fields of Idaho. And as long as you acclimatize there in Boston as a law abiding citizen you are neither murderous, greedy nor unjust. Now, pat yourself on the back, and look at it this way: I've exercised my company stock options the day they became exercisable a while back, and do I feel sorry for those who have lost 1/3 of their value? Am I greedy? Am I unjust? Am I a murderer? Heck no. It is just an example of this simple motto: maximize your potential without trashing the Constitution and the local laws of your respected country. Some of my other favorite quotes by Locke: "I have always thought the actions of men the best interpreters of their thoughts. Wherever law ends, Tyranny begins." and by Winston Churchill: "If the human race wishes to have a prolonged and indefinite period of material prosperity, they have only got to behave in a peaceful and helpful way toward one another." -Sujan
