Comfy reminded Handigao and the Jatras there.
So, how many of us are from Greater Handigao that includes Tangal school-thulopokhari-balmandir-maligaoun-chabel bhatkeko pool west, bhatbhateni- baluwatar east, Bishal nagar -chandol-dhumbaraji south?
How many of you have swim in Dhobikhola before it became dhal-khola?

Couldn't resist on this one!!
I think u missed dhalku and the basketball court area there.....haha, on weekends, they have a marketplace these days i guess!
CP bro, dhobi khola chai hoina, once took a dip in our very own handigaon ko private pool( gahana pokhari) and got chased by panchayat kaal ko cop (with that big moustache) friggin scary cop! ITs great to see that they have almost developed pokhari and surroundings to a heritage kinda place! very much praiseworthy!
Well, "LakeSide" (dhobi khola ko side ko khet ;) reminds me of those soccer, cricket playing years and later as darkness prevailed seeing "matrix" in the sky lying down ! NOSTALGIC FEELINGS CREEPING BACK! NO PLACE LIKE HOME!

this thread doesn't seem controversial so is certainly worth replying to!!
HAndigoan certainly brings vivid memories back...lying around the khola ..matrix in the sky from my own backyard with all the dais will certainly be remembered ...
HandigaunLE s hAVE that zeal within em' that can't hold em back!!!

GBNC Dasain Party back in 1992 there were about six, seven people from Hadigaon. Jatra,baja, temples and Pokhari etc. are some unique earnaments besides being residences or Palace of two Rana Prime Ministers Padma and Bhim Shamser. We have been fortunated with some intellectuals fellows besides farmers who Produces sufficient amount of foods while maintaining our conventional ways of living styles.
I would recommend all to visit there i f you have not .

Do you know Hatti, Pothi, Vikram dai, Sambhu dai, Omkar dai, Jay singh, Bijaya singh, Anil Dhakal, mundre dai, Birendra (KC)...etc?
Dhobikhola khet- ma foot-ball ta kati kheliyo, kheliyo. But now a days ta thukne thau pani chhaina.
Dhobi khola ma swim garera ghar ma glittering sand tauko bhari liyera aauda kam gali khaidaina-thyo....
Tudal devi ko jatra....man! Mane khat rocked.
Ek choti thulo pokhari (gahana khojne) bata Mahesh ra maile tanna machha lyayera khusukka drum ma halya. Beiman machha haru ta sabai bhyaguta po bhaye.
Chepagada bata ke machha banthe. Dhikkar hos!

Handigaon ma lageko Aango kasari Birseko. Pura Tole nai dandani Balda ra sabai a-aafno ghar agadi basera royeko kasari birseko. 22 ota ghar jaleko thio. Sanghuro bha hunale Damkal lagna namilera aago control garna kya garo. Mero school padhda ko sathi thiyo, Saumitra sarkar, sarswaoti than bhanda ali tala ghar thiyo. Well,
2033 saal ma ta wasn't even born..tara i do remember some "FIRE THING" when i was very very young..we all kids going "ha ho ha ho" imitating damkals..and i do remember the damkals only reached our hometown after the house was burnt down completely......so typical like the police! eheh
well, greater handigaon sure has lot to offer....ceaseless wonderful memoirs that we'll always cherish........though everyone in ktm criticized bout the place! but tunal devi always freaked me out..when ppl used to pass on rumors to scare us lil kids saying the devi travels in some white headless horse :D
Those unique jatras, lakhe le lakheting, unique characters with unique customs..always made our place bustling and wonderful community. People will never forget the tradition.
Did any of you play table tennis (ping pong for americanized who don't understand) behind tri shakti club........that was a very special hangout place for me.....
keep the memories alive fellas......Greater handigoan rocks!

Tyo kisna mandir bhako bhuteswor ko chowk pani kya lively thiyo. thyaha pani maile dherai hwakrang khelya chhu. ek choti euta lai layera kheldai thiye ek suka lageko thiyo &^%$ ta bis paisa po lagya chha bhanchha....gharai samma lakhetera lat hane ni!
hwakryang...jor chhiya chhuni, bijor futauni. sabai chhiya dhus. char chhiya ekli was what I wanted if was bhaling.
dhobi khola ma ek chhoti baluwa lina gako baltin ma. chappal nai layera pani ma chhirya janni bhe ra...pachi ta lanthyang lunthung bhera chappal bata khutta khuskiyo...ani ta chappal nai chhaina. Euta ma chha arko chhaina....kasto tension bhayo. Chappal bhetiyenani....mero.

on the brink of dhobi khola. There are so many reknowned temples in Hadigaon like Bhat
Bhateni, Bhude Gannesh, Dhana Gannesh, Tudal Devi ko Mandir and the famous Krishna
Mandir in Bhuteswar etc.
Bishal Nagar Library which is in Bhimsenthan has its own building and accomodating the
Paradise club along with it. These days some young people prefer to name Bishal Nagar than Hadigaon. Actually Hadigaon is the 5th number ward of Kathmandu Municipility.The
famous people late two Prime Ministers Dr.K.I.Singh and Man Mohan Adhikary were elected from this Ward .
The Home Minister late Surya Prasad Upadhya, a follower of B.P. Koirila used to live here.
Surya Bahadur Thapa, Kamal Thapa, & Ramesh Nath Pande etc RPP autorities live here
as well as two ex NRB Governers Hari Shanker Tripathi and Mr. Poudel live here.
Bhanu Bhakta High School of Ranipokhari which is known as Darbar High School ( the first school of Nepal) had had the student from Hadigaon who was the Board First in the SLC
exam .2016 from Hadigaon ,Mr.Shiva Prasad Adhikary.

I know it used to be called Harigram but to me it's always Handigau.
Harigram? sounds like a place somewhere in Sarlahi.

Cp bro(and everyone else) gotta give it to u ..u still have those memoirs fresh in your head and much to my amazement u still know those terms “hwakryang” and all the other stuffs associated with it…by the way aru Guchha ko aru game ko naam pani taha cha.??tyo rectangle banara guccha falcha ni ??just doesn’t come at the top of my head right now…

Khola pari ta football (soccer for u hypocrites) sadhai sano ma khelinthyo tara achkel ta factories haru banaeera hidne thau pani chaina bhanne suneko thiye!!!! Ani changa udauna ma ta ma pheri ek no. thiye hai sadhai behaana 8 baje ghar bata niske pachi rati 8 nabaje ghar nai napharkine ..(with those occasional pit stops at home) ani pheri rati aayepachi ta saddhai GALI khanthe …TARA I have to admit as every single CHILD.. (BE IT here or ANYWHERE ELSE)…I LIVED EVERY SINGLE MOMENT OF IT…

Do you guys remember there was once a club called "small boys union club"? President was kanchha dai. Kanchha dai was the president of club but was always busy playing kauda (paya) kisna mandir pachhadi. So we gave him a title. Actually it was me who gave him that title. His title was "BBPC". We all used to call him BBPC. In the begining he didn't mind. He actually liked that but he didn't know what that meant. BBPC meant Barhmase Bhate Paya cha. Kanchha dai ko nam Bal Bahadur thiyo (Kanchha dai ko ghar chahi tyo krishna prabha primary school ko just mathi thiyo). One day as we were talking to him addressing hi him BBPC ( there in Bhuteshwor - tyo mukh matra bhako Bhairab than agadi) he grabed my kathalo and asked ke ho yo mu** BBPC bhanya. Paya ma harya re chha ki ke ho . Ma pare fanda ma. Aba Barhamase Bhate Paya Cha bhanna ta jyan gaye bhayena,,,ke bhanu ke bhanu...afno tamasha jasto huna aatisakyo. Tyai bhuteshwor ko kripa mukh bata niskyo Bal Bahadur President of the Club (BBPC). Jyan bachyo.

Even I am not from Handigaun. Sabanam was my friend. We used to go ELI together. Now her dad (Asai) Ek Phuli lives in somewhere in Kalanki. Another Indra Paudel, Manohar Gorkhali, Gandu forgot his real name, Sangeeta Sarakar, Punteko Choro from Bhatbhateni, Sailendra Maharjan(near kalopul) one panta they were all my friend in 80's.

BTW, I was in Handigaun last week in Pratul Sarakar's Home. Handigaun looks verygood. No paral ko ago, no hilo. Not only handigaun whole kathmandu looks clean and greeny. I am giving all the credit to Ex-Mayor Mr. Keshab Stapit.

Well, could some one remember who are the famous poet of Hadigaon? As I recall Madan
Puraskar winner Late Lila Dhwaj Thapa's house is near Lamo Dhunga and his famous novel
is " Mana". Poet Bhairab Rimal who wrote couple of poems and published some books
lived in Dhalku for many years. Uddhab choita runs some magazines which is a monthly publication I guess. Hari Gopal Pradhan has published some books about Royal Family.
Late Kesshab Pidali, a commedian used to live in Hadigaon. Bishal Nagar Librerary organised some Poem competitons for couple of years.
Could you Please write more about Literary activities of Hadigaon area.
