Looking at the pictures from Maoist-Police clash,I was immediately reminded of several war movies made in the past.Just thought to share some of my views about some of those war movies. Platoon remains the best war movie I ever saw. The most striking part of this movie was the way Oliver Stone depicted the American dichotomy about war. It was so horrible to watch the Americans attacking the village of Vitnam, and the disgust felt by Charlie Sheen there. Patton shows the delicate path of victory and responsibility while depicting second world war era general.I think this movie is really a remarkable movie in the way it teaches us lessons about the war and the emotion of a general assoiciated with this. The Deer Hunters and its Vietnam war scenes, esp the Russian Roulettes, are so difficult to expunge from my memory, may be because they were so frightening to watch.A very brilliant performance by De Niro and Christopher Walken,I think. Lawerence of Arabia, and The bridges on the river Kwai ,both by David Lean, were also meticulous in their portray of war. Even the English Patient(so similar to David Lean movies) shows the moments of war effectively. Two other movies that should be mentioned are Apocalypse now and Schindler's list. [This is just a list of names, and I don't venture to offer my criticisms of these movies, one of the main reasons is there are already aplenty of those.]
