I have been at the site less than a week. The technology impressed me right away, for example, being able to search for all messages by one participant. And other stuff like that. Way better than what TND used to be. And I got the impression the site was much visited. "56 Users online currently, 692 unique visitors in last 24 hours." That is on average. But by now I am kind of disappointed in the traffic at Kurakani. It is the same few people writing, replying, and re-replying to each other. I wish the participation were broader. Plus, I also get the impression that besides a few, the "intellectual" class seem to think this Kurakani beneath them. As in a social activity for those with time to kill, rather than an ongoing reunion of all nepalis abroad, year-round, literally 24-7. My questions: (1) Is this the most popular site among the Nepali expatriates? If yes, which are the runner-ups? (2) Do you agree with my observation of the Kurakani traffic? Or maybe many many more people read the comments than actually post something, their own, or as replies. So there is all that hidden traffic at Kurakani itself. (3) Which is the most popular section of Sajha.com you think?

>>But by now I am kind of disappointed in the traffic at Kurakani. It is the same few people writing, replying, and re-replying to each other. I wish the participation were broader... Just before few days ago you came to sajha.com, There appeared sooo much threads related to religion/racism/personal matters that some of regular sajha.com visitors raised this issue. Last week, sajha site admin made registration compulsory to post stuffs here. It was the main reason that there was tremondous decline in posting new threads these days. As site admin said: >>In the past couple of days, when the registration was required, we have seen a noticeable decline in personal quarrels, personal one line communications, racist/ethnic bashings, hateful comments, etc. Most of the threads seemed to be of information/entertaining nature, without getting too personally charged, without any curse words, without negativity that brings others down. Hence the validity of registration still remains in the general sajha.com memory. In fact, last week was a period of experimentation for sajha.com, So parmendraji, don't be disappointed with sajha.com just within one week period. I have been regular visitor of sajha.com for some months and think that sajha.com has the most healthier and broader participated discussion board KURAKANI among nepali websites. >>? Or maybe many many more people read the comments than actually post something, their own, or as replies There are many good posters in sajha.com but some of them only appear one or two times in some months period. Many of sajha.com visitors just like to read postings by others and rarely do post their stuffs here. You know better about sajha.com participation from this thread: INTERESTING STATISTICS FOR SAJHA.COM http://www.sajha.com/sajha/html/OpenThread.cfm?forum=2&ThreadID=4191 Let's try to make sajha.com more popular, more broader participated, more informative and more effective website to bring Nepali Communities from all over the world.

Kantipuronline...I like their news best. Lot's faster and reliable than Nepalnews. Nepalnews is just popular for it's chat!

Paramendra, [where did your phot go? the cyberbog ate it?] I think sajha.com is just another medium to express our views. It is also very new (what, two years?). People sometimes tend to take this much more seriously than it actually is. A tea house metaphor is apt for this place. Some people come here with a serious issue and want to "get to the bottom of it." Some just wander on and off. You know they see a little roof with smoke coming out and are curious so they drop in. Their interest is fleeting. And some are regulars. Rain or shine one has to come here even to say hi to the board. Just like people buy newspaper for variou reasons, people use Sajha for a variety of reasons. Some buy Newspaper just to read comics, some only to read sports page and few others first page and op ed. Some are serious posters and some are serious readers. I think I kinda fall in the middle. I post and I read but not always with the attention some postings require. I assume your posting falls under the serious serious category. And, I still have to read your posting yet. See? I know there are more readers than posters. A lot of people seem to think, wrongly , they need to be a good writer to post stuff here. One has to be a serious thinker and all that. And there are quite a few good writers who don't have time to post or as you said think it is beneath them. And I say whatever. Let's just say what we need to say, talk what we need to talk about, debate, not debate, let be it, be quiet, read, sulk, put it down, lift it up and so on as long as it lasts. There is a danger of over expectation. The danger lies not on sajha but on posters I think. If they come here to change the world well, they might have to wait for a looooooooooong time, I would say.

Parmendraji, Please don't post so many links(stuffs) on serious topics at one time. People may not have enough time to read all of your articles or can not comment immediately on all of your postings. Anyway, your articles are thought-provoking and worthy to read. Keep it up ! Hope your patience will not die since sajha visitors sometimes just don't make enough comments on your articles.

Analysis for the Month of Aug, 2002. Server Activity Totals for Period: Total sessions served : 104935 (up from 96610 -- that is a huge jump) Total hits made on server : 5661727 (up from 4891731) Total time spent by all sessions : 52431066 seconds (up from 43969104) Analysis for the Month of Jul, 2002. Server Activity Totals for Period: Total sessions served : 96610 Total hits made on server : 4891731 Total time spent by all sessions : 43969104 seconds Total Hits in June 2002: 3252403 Total Time Spent: 27632624 seconds Interesting. Looks like summer is over. (1) How old is this site? Two years? (2) What was the traffic like the first few months? Is there one place that has the figures for each month since inception? (3) A few days back I sent e-mails to half the people whose addresses I have saved inviting them to the site. I wonder if more of us should do that to jack up the traffic at the site. Tech/Site Display: I wish more people put up their profiles. Info on themselves. Socializing is great, but I wish there were more discussions.

When the hell are you going to git tha message...C'mon now you cannot be that stubborn and stoooopid. Or you can stay home and discuss yourself with yourself. How about that ? Just keep us out of it.
