This posting has nothing to do with Nepal, but a lot to do with a great teacher who inspired -- through his intellectual combativeness -- some of the best young economists in the '70s and '80s to make their mark in international economics. Enjoy this fine obituary, even if you are not an economist. An excerpt: "Mr Dornbusch always relished an intellectual contest. His teaching style, like his approach to conferences, was notoriously confrontational . . . But students and colleagues seemed to love being beaten up by Mr Dornbusch. It was no disgrace, after all: it happened to everybody. It was done with great charm, so you could not take offence. Above all, you got so much out of it. A few bruises were a small price to pay for the intellectual excitement Mr Dornbusch invariably aroused. http://www.economist.com/people/PrinterFriendly.cfm?Story_ID=1270474 oohi ashu ktm, nepal
