Durga Nath Sharma, General Manager at the state controlled Nepal Television was relieved from
duty Friday and was replaced by Tapanath Sukla.

Sukla who was initially associated with NTV was in the helm of affairs as General Manager for two
consecutive terms before Sharma was appointed.

In his comments to the Nepal Samacharpatra daily, Sharma said he was relieved from duty after
refusing to yield to the pressure of the Communication Minister Jaya Prakash Gupta who was trying
to force him to take faulty decisions.

He said the Minister tried to pressurize him to take in his supporters in the newly opened vacancies
despite the fact that they did not meet the eligibility requirements.

“I did not yield to pressure, hence despite working with devotion and honesty for the upliftment of
the communication sector, I was asked to leave,” Sharma told the vernacular daily. nepalnews.com

And what do you think Mr. Sharma is really the one 'we' need in Nepal Television? if Tapanath is bad and Jay prakash is worst, then Mr. Sharma is not good either.

what makes you say that Mr Sharma is not good. I don't think it would be easy for him to ruin all his "reputation" just for admitting few unqualified candidates.

Mr. Sharma will not be alone. The next candidate will be the head of
election commission. It looks he will have to offer the Char Tare to
Girija Congress (well, I am not supporter of Girija Bhate) if the EC head
has pride and legal honesty, to keep his Ijjat up. If he does so, then
Sher B. Deoba will replace the EC head by a new puppet, or Deoba
will pressure EC head to give result on his side otherwise, there will
be no election and EC head will be discredited for this too. So, EC
head is now in dilemma. He will probably resign after he gives verdict
on Girija Kangress side, legally Girija Congress has ownership, but,
virtue of power asks result on opposite side.

In current CCIA issue: Will they really bring the corrupts inside the
bar? Or it will end up like hatti ayo hatti ayo fussa? At the end
it will be nothing? Just the way Bhim Rawal was rescued by
punshing Nembang? How much fun Bhim Rawal had when Makune
guarded him, and punished Subhas Nembang? In such scenario,
will this corrupt catching drama will really find better vehicle to
keep on moving or will be blasted like Makune did on Bhim Rawal
issue and every effort gone down to drain? How far this issue
will succeed ahead?

The whole episode reminds me of a story.
Once upon a time, there used to be a king in a remote Jungle. The king was happy except for the fact that the beauty of the area was marred by vultures circling all around and all the time. And number of vultures was increasing and even residents of the Jungle had started complaining about that. The inhabitants also complained that their life too is under threat. The king, quite concerned about welfare of his fellow residents, ordered his ministers to look after the matter.

The ministers were scared. They knew that the vultures were only after carrion. The Ministers themselves were the hunters and vultures were just enjoying their leftovers. How could they give up their favorite hobby so easily? A long protests from the residents and frequent reminders from the king compelled them to think for the solution. And the solution they acted upon was to get rid of the vultures.
The story ends here.

What I am not clear so far is:

As vultures were not the real culprit, did that decision stop the menace?
How long did it take the habitants to notice that although the number of vultures were in a decline, nothing has changed? Could they notice it before election, were there been any election?

And well-wisher, what makes you say Mr Sharma is good? Just because he used to be one of the popular news readers, who never gave a chance to anybody else when it came to Royal visits and foreign land trips. He also was Deputy General Manager in NTV for a long time who favored groupism and power play. I don't say Tapanath is good, but Mr sharma is not better either.
