Well, Nepali poetry in Boston has always been, to the best of my knowledge, an
esoteric, informal and deliberately unstructured occasional pursuit.

Some of us friends would decide to
get together for guff-suff, momos, beer and wine, and to share poems and to croon Bacchu Kailash ko songs, and people would just
bring their poems to recite.

The core "kabita group", loose and informal,
consisted of about five regular members,
most of whom have now moved away to other places from the Greater Boston area.

NOT being a poet myself, I only helped publicize these "kabita parties" on the Net, especially on soc.culture.nepal, and that
was the extent of my contribution.

>and even in Kantipur to "show-off".

Congratulations, Biswo Poudel-ji, on your accomplishments!!

Nepalis who can do java programming as
well as publish a piece of writing in the Madhuparka Monthly are rare indeed!!

>this much is "please Bostonbasi haru, let
>me know if you guys become damn serious
>about
>organizing story writing competition/or
>event."

Maybe others would be interested in organizing such a competition. But at the
kabita group in Boston, our approach was such that we were able to sit back, relax, maybe get a little drunk over Corona beer or some white wine and just simply enjoy the kabita and the geet.

This way, there would be no pressure to win or lose in any competition as such, and people would just simply ENJOY listening to others reciting poems/muktaks and doing guff-suff.

I mean, the attitude was: we were all kabita-loving friends, who were just having
a good time. Nothing more than that.

At this point, I would urge Boston poets
like Mabi Singh to please post some of his impressive Nepali poems for all to read
and appreciate.

Oh,good idea.I think they should do this.
It would be even great if they commit one
section of this webpage for that creative
activity. You know if you furnish exit for
suppressed creativity, the creativity gets
encouragement and that fosters further
creativity.Please take it seriously.
