A house owned by an employee of the revenue administration. CIAA has raided houses of 22 employees, including the one in the picture. cost of these houses are estimated 1 karod as well as 3 karod, but their salary are just between 4000 to 10,500 rupees

NK Posted on 19-Aug-02 10:13 AM

What an ugly ugly *ugly* house! Devoid of any imagination whatsoever. Ostentatious. A bad test period.

It is all good that the corrupts are being exposed and some even in police custody. What next? What is the game plan here? Does the govt. have any? Are they going to raise salary for instance? How is the judicial system? Are they going to have a different court for these kind of crimes? And somehow the number sounds too low - just 22. where did the other 2222 go?

CIA Nepal's current work should not derail the way Subhas Nembang was
derailed and punished for exposing Bhim Rawal. Who protected Bhim Rawal,
the probable PM of Nepal in November i.e. Makune. So, I am very suspicous
that this whole move will be demoralized once Makune peoples are found
indulged in this corruption control and ... Now, Deoba may be trying to
punish Girija Gang, but, once Deoba moves to Makune Gang, and he will
be afraid of street Vandalism from UML sides as an indirect move to
neutralize the CIA's work. It will not take much time to dismiss all these
efforts and corruption will again reach to same level as before.

Well, I have a thin thread of hope that they will reinforce their move
and make the track stronger. How long will remain unanswered?
I mean is it a biased move to get vote in election or its real and honest
move to make Nepal corruption minimum country in SA.

Its funny that they targeted these "small" officers!! How about the people in real power, like Girija, Khum Bahadur Khadka as well hakims and top police officers? This might be a good start or whatever, but you know how much money the leaders of out country have? They should be targeted first, dont blame the Nepali people that follow the leaders, the change has to be from he utmost top. If only the CIAA got the top people first, the others would be scared, and maybe not follow thier damn paths!! The worst case is Police in Nepal!! They are supposed to be the protectors,, they actually help pimps smuggle young gir\ls across the border, as well as help traffic drugs......

HahooGuru Posted on 20-Aug-02 01:25 AM

After watching the last 3 photographs posted by Khahare, I am
very much satisfied (temporarily: for the time being) that its giving
a new message to the corrupts in Nepal. At least they can not
now walk showing their NOSE? Nak kate barabar. Hey, if any
Sajhaities have relatives who are similarly corrupts, then,
you might be afriad whether your relative is behind the
"JhaleMale Rumal". (Rumal le mukh chhopekole lagcha hola
ni hai katai "afno daju--bau-kaka-Vena..." ta hoina . Jhasakka.
Its time to have party by those whose relatives are not in
HMG Jobs. If your relative is not in HMG/Job means you
can don't have to imagine of the relative hiding face inside the JhaleMale
Rumal. TV and Internet helped us to see these Corrupts
worldwide. I want to hear the Malpot adhikrit, who told me
"Murkha kura nagarnus bhai, khurukka sarkari rate (4 lakh prati ropani)
ko Jagga rajinama ko mahasul tirnus, tapaile tyo jagga bechne
lai 40 lakh prati ropani ko dar tirnus, ya free ma linus. Hamro
rate bigrincha 40lakh per ropani ko rate tyo tamshuk ma dekhayo
bhane ". I remember the scene when that Hakim in charkhal
came out of his office room to convince me ..... I mean Malpot
and customs are so corrupt that even if you say, hey I want
to pay my part full to govt. account, they, avoid it "rate bigrincha"
and ask to pay only parts and take money from the exempted part.
Now, I regret that I would have taken his photograph. . . . . ..

The other time, in Pokhara NP office, I made drawings of a couple
of house on behalf of my relatives in my village. Well, the officer
in NP, rejected at first and later, I came to know that the relatives
paid him extram money and the same drawing was accepted without
any modifications.

Unfortunately, when you talk ghus, the ghusyaha reply to you,
"timi pani yahi baseko bhe, kam ghusya hunnathyou". I was
surprised with the execuses from ghusyahas. Its unfotunate
that there are several tens of my friends have grabbed money
from public as ghus and I am willing to hear their name appear
in News paper. A couple of such engineers, whose motive right
from admission to univ. was to grab public money to their account
should deserve jail. I remember a guy whom I met him while I
was heading to get univ. position, was telling me "tyo teacher
bhera kati auchha ra. Kina bekara ma univ. join garne kura
sochou. .... In that Mini Bus, he was explaining how he
accumulated money as site engineer, and how to "EAT"
concrete and Ashphalt (Alkatra). Well, there are tens of
classmates and known engineers who were licensed to
take GHUS. Katro katro ghar chha ba. Lets see their
picture in Kathmandu Post/Kantipur.

The most interesting ghus taken by govt. employee was
at Nepal-India border, by an Indian Police/custom officer.
We were going to univ. in India, I used to take Mon-Ami
ball pen (one time very good branded ballpen in Nepal)
for class room use. It was early morning. We reached to
Bhairhawa and crossed the border. Our bus reached so
early we wanted to catch the first bus to Gorakhpur.
So, we crossed the bridge and the custom officer were
forced to wake. "itna jaldi kyu ate ... chalo andar ...
...." he checked everything. He did not find anything
special, except that 1 dozen mon-ami ballpen. He told
me that ek pen me rakhtahun, aur tum chale jawo...
Well, he checked all the bags. Finally, he found a friend
wearing a new winter jacket. He asked to take out the
jacket "yato naya he, utaro". It was surely cold.
He found Beer in one of our friends bag .... Then, the
guy got crazy... student kahete ho aur sarab pite,
wo bhi itna jaldi. Mai danda mar marke tume tumara desh
bhej dunga ...Well, that bottle of beer and New jacket
were trouble some out of 10 peoples. After long discussion,
he asked 1,200 rupees for the jacket as custom... finally
at one point he said bhai 100rupiya to dedo... Well, we
failed to clear the custom and returned to bridge. While
returning I went the custome officer's room and took
that MON-AMI ball pen (all of us were enjoyed when
I took it back that ball pen LOL). The friend who had
beer ko bottle drank at no-one's country line i.e. border line.
We were not sure what to do, whether to move to
Nepalgunj . . . . Finally, anothe classmate arrived with
his brother, who knew the custome officer because of
his regular HAFTA .... and after bargaining from his
side we were allowed to enter to bus and escape to
Gorakhpur. I saved my MON-AMI Ball pen.

Well, Ghus + Thuggish behavior exist everywhere,
but, in Nepal ghus is too expensive, compared to
India. Well, ghus in India is very cheap and as a foreigner
you can not avoid it when you look different and
cann't speak local language with local intonations.
Greatest thing in India is Not all Tax officers are
corrupt like in Nepal, thats why you can not carry
or buy Japanese goods that does not have any
proof of custome due clearance. I remember when
we purchased Toshiba Car Stereo in Saharanpur, the
shop keeper has to walk 500m away to get it
from his secret store and asked us to vanish from
that place and told becareful to avoid it people know
that you bought from our shop. .. . . . . In Nepal,
we can find 10,000s of TV, CD Players, .... that are
passed through custom without custom due payments.
So, I feel no pity towards those who are now suffering
from mental turture of current CIAA drama.

what needs to be considered:

there are rules. No one follows it. So don't those 22. Suddenly, the rules are *implemented*. and some random 22 get trapped. The key words are RANDOM and SUDDEN.
Honestly, I see it UNFAIR to those 22 who have been caught. Caught for WHAT? If the govt thinks that they are being brought to justice, This is NOT the right way to bring justice. I am not supporting corruption, but listen to this. lets assume their are 2222 more corrupts. It's gonna take CIAA a while to hunt them down. Now that those 2222 are finally aware that the rules ARE being implemented, they have ample time to eliminate any/all the proofs of their corruption. These 2222 will never have to be a victims of rumal-le-chhopeko-picture-on-sajha people. They get to get away with whatever they have done.
NOt anyone of us supports corruption. But the big time concern here , if you believe in equal and fair law implementation, is the *fairness* of the law.

Most of us will think that: This is how it starts, you hunt down 1-2, others will not dare. But, again, where was the law all these years?? Why should those 22 be an object of experimentation? Where is the law of fairness and equality.

Think from within those 22's current situation and heart's *rodan* before you accuse me of being supportive to those corrupts.

Some things will never straighten out...
HahooGuru Posted on 20-Aug-02 06:52 AM

No pity on these thuggs. You might have different feeling, but, they knew that
what they did was not good for them nor for the country. Even the 22, it surely
gives a good message that you can be caught any time. Well, it would have
been better if all those 222222 would have been caught simultaneously.

Hahooguru,

Your stories are always fascinating. I am glad you are back.

After reading your last posting re editor of Kantipur's past life made me pause though. I am thinking How far one is willing to go to get the corrupts? If you dig enough you will certainly find a few skelekons in anybody's closets. Granted, in this particular case the *rumor* is not about his forefathers' closet but his own. BUT, it was before the law was enacted. (I presume there is a law behind all these arrests, not a whim). How far are we going to peer to get the offenders? How deep are we going to dig? Mind you, even if this editor used to sleep on rupiya ko bed, he was not arrested. On the contrary, he went on to become one of the most visible/prominent citizens of Nepal.

If we are law abiding citizens then let's hear what the law says. Is there some kind of statutue of limit? I do not condone any behaviour that is immoral and unethical even it is within the boundary of law (case in point Enron) but I become suspicious and weary when rumour starts to fly and everybody and anybody is a suspect. Even if the rumour is verifiable and proven then what? Should the Kantipur be banned? Should he be put in jail? What about the King himself?

In Rana kal they used to make the most corrupt person 'Sardar' of a town and few years later rulers used to do 'sharbaharan' and pocket money themselves. It was a brilliant way to loot people by Ranas.

I am asking what does the law say? Where does the law stand? Is this yet another Let's-do-bikash-by-catching-some-ghusiyas?

Just pondering on Tuesday morning....
alnepali Posted on 20-Aug-02 10:17 AM

One should NOT expect changes to happen overnight. Events such as these take time and careful undergoing. Obviously, corruption under LARGER SLIPS are still out there. At times like this one must LEND our SUPPORT to the CIAA and not discourage and or discredit them from doing their job.

I am sure that the after-math, from all of this, will give civilians like us, the encouragement to BELEIVE in the system.

NK: Just pondering on Tuesday morning....

Unfortunately, I missed great day: Tuesday, a day to share with others.
Monday is really a black day for me, at least. Now its Wednesday early
morning i.e. midnight.

As always, I liked your previous posting and logics. Gyawali was govt.
officer and TAx officer: director. I will surely ask how this Gyawali
bought Kantipur'S major share? as a govt. employee.

Meanwhile, if you want to know how Kantipur Pub. staff earn EXTRA
money, I can introduce you a person who regularly pays to publish
his advertisements. Kantipur staff ask him xyz ji, khai tapai ko

Kantipur Pub. is around Rs. 5,000 to 10,000. At the end the

HahooGuru Posted on 21-Aug-02 06:47 PM

Anaconda writes: What is CIAA doing by arresting sana tina karmachari,

Bro/sis,

They might be sanatina when it comes to POSITION or RANK. But, when
it comes money, the CIAA said they collected directly 6 billion rupees
from just 22 persons. How can you generalize them as SANA TINA
karmachari. To being Bhansar/ Revenue dept. seems not less than being
a minister at Water Resource or Home Ministry. Did not you read the
article @ KOL, where the wife of moneyless-CDO asks her husband
"TAPAI TYO KHARDAR KAHILE HUNE". Some engineers make joke on
fellow engineers' wives that "haina hajoor (i.e. to her own husband)
kahile Overseer Hune?". Overseer le kumlyayechha maar paisa, bichara
tyo engineer POI le ghus khado rahencha...

Yaha Aimai lai afno logne le ghus nakhada usko swasni lai NARAMRO

Aiamai lai kina yasto murkha thaneko? Not all women are like that,
but, we are talking about the intersection of GHUS NAKHANE POI
and dumb swasni. GHUS NAKHANE POI (KHAN CHAHERA NAPAYEKA
PANI YASAI MA PARCHAN) ra PAISA MATRA DIMAG MA ATNE SWASNI
ko combination bho (mathematically its called A intersection B) bhane
TYO CDO ENGINEER BHANNE POSITION ABASYAK CHHAINA, but,
to get money any position is OK.

Well, there used to an old (still valid) joke. A khardar in Bhansar got
promotion to Subba, and the Khardar rejected promotion, "malai
promotion sramotion chahiyekai chhina. Tyasaile ma promotion
bhako "Badhuwa" purji bhujdina.". The reason why he did not
want to receive the letter of promotion, was that the guy
has to move to mantralaya ko prashashan sakha, leaving the
Bhansar ko Khardar for someone else. So, ANACODE Bhansar
ko khardar bhaneko Mantri ra politicians like Govinda Raj Joshi
will move their leaving the Saha-mahamantri ko position too.
Some one has to offer them the Kahrdar ko position at
TIA or at Tatopani or Chisopani ... anywhere. Try offering
it to Govinda Raj Joshi, who is very hungry for the money.
at the most, Govind Raj Joshi may ask to rename Khardar to some better
name to make a lateral move. If you say to him that NO
its not possible, he might reply to you: LA LA Thikai chha ni
ta, ke farak paryo ra.

Remember Govinda Raj Joshi did not have enough money to wear
outside polyster ko pants. His Polyster ko pant used to be
kasto khucmuchiyeko and udhriyera silayeko in 2036-37.
Peoples used to say "Joshi le ghus nakhane bhe ko le
bichara kapada pani ramro lagaunu bhako chhaina". Gaigui ke.
Ma pani ta usko lagi PlaCard Bokera GRJ jindabad gareko ni.
dui dui mahina samma. Ramro sanga najik bata dekheko

Bangoor jasto manche ko bhaneko ta GRJ po rahechha. La afoole
PLACARD boki jindabad garya manche ta yasto motayechha ni

So, Minister and Khardar are just different in name of the position,
but, their work is same: GHUS KHANU. PAISA Kumlyaunu.

It is too early to "wodoroku", to be surprisingly happy.
Now, they should new law against Hari Prasad Panday who
always raised finger that govt. is not taking any action against
him. Now govt. does not need proof to prove that Hari Pande
had accumulated the property illegally, but, Hari Pande will have
to prove that he earned honestly starting from his Overseer
Position.

Well, there are thousands of Har Pande in Nepal, who a challenge
others that they paid GHUS to become reach, and get execuses
by putting strap on their eyes to become heros. Its time to find
more Hari Pande and Govinda Raj Joshi.

Folks, don't show that 'irrational exuburence' yet. Stop day dreaming. You think all those arrested will be behind the bars for reasonable time and all the money they got will be confiscated?? This all is drama. It is no different than WWR wrestling you see in television. Common it's not going to happen in Nepal. They got the money. My hunch is they will buy court. And the court will deem all the activities of CIAA illegal and thus they all go free unscathed.

When Govinda Dai was Minister for Education, HahooGuru visited him to make his Salee a teacher in a primary school at Dandako Nak. BUt, Govinda Dai didn’t do accordingly.

That's why Now HahooGuru is always agains him. (Just my guess)
HahooGuru yastai ho salee lai jagir lagauna nasakeko ris pokhdai garnus hai ta.

What amazes me:

1. How can a simple officer's daughter/son afford to go ANYWHERE to study - America ko ta kurai nagaru, India pani kasari afford garna sakincha.
2. How can a simple Nepali person's wife afford so much gahana pat that she is literally YELLOW and I've heard these days, the trend is platinum and diamonds!
3. How can a simple Government officer afford all those bhoj haru and expensive weddings?
4. How can people buy cars and houses 100% CASH DOWN???

Maybe a few simple answers:
1. Maybe they had inheritated land - possible
2. Maybe their ancestors were wealthy - possible

BUT
Here we are quick to point out yo ghush khako and tyo ghush khako kura but don't you think our society and it's trend is at fault here?
How many of us men and women would be accepting if our parents said that they didn't have enough money to have a dhum dham wedding?
How many of us would say, I can't afford to have a a dhum dham bhoj this year, maybe we can cut down on our spending?
WE SIMPLY CANNOT!
Because society and especially people in KTM and growing cities are now competing with traditions and chala dhala of the Delhites and Mumbai-ites and moreover, COMPETING AMONGST themselves and bringing the country to this outrageous situation where the higher ups are competing to get ghush from one source or another. Go to the villages, people are happy. Maybe not rich, but they are content in their ways. The only ones who are corrupted in the villages are either the educated or the rich. Ironic isn't it?
Maybe its time to change the ways and alter certain traditions......

Here is a simple check. Two brothers e.g. Bhesh Bahadur Thapa
and his younger Brother .(cousine) xyz Thapa ... are from
Near Damauli .... You can check XYZ Thapa's living standard
and understand how much they inheritated, and how much
Bhesh B. Thapa made from Carpet Kanda, 2032. Overinvoicing
of Jute carpets exported inthe name of Woolen carpet and ...
(its panchayat time story).

Now, Surya Bahadur Thapa after 2036 myth.

GRJ and CW after 2046. in 2036, when I used to carry placard in
the name of GRJ, he used to wear udhrera hatle silayeko polyster
ko pants, now he moves in Pajero. Says his sons sent the money to
his account "HUNDI" garne biz. chha jasto ni chhora haru ko?
i..e GRJ grabbs money in Nepal gives it to relatives of Nepalis
in USA, and DRJ X DRJ send money via Bank Transfer, after collecting
money from Nepalis illegally staying or legally staying but, want to
earn 2/4 rupiya extra beyond bank exchange rate. In hundi biz. in
Japan, too, mostly the leaders are Son and daughter to son-in-law
of Political leaders, Bank Managers, Directors and big. biz. houses.
Its how they make black money to white.

Do you know how black money is made white in India? Some makes hindi
bogus hindi movie. Turns to remotely located cinema halls, in paper shows
all tickets sold out. Thus, all money is taxable and a part of profits ....
Our Maiti Ghar ko heroine ... Mala Sinha was caught Rs. 11 lakhs money of
unpaid tax, and I heard, she told to the tax officer that its a money
given by Mahendra King of Nepal to make a movie. That is
the birth of KollyWood, and I am sure there are GRJ like people who
may invite HahooGuru one day, ask to stop making comments and
citing Polyster ko pant ko kura, become flopped hero in reality,
but, will turn the movie into box office heat without a single cinema
viewer, but, all ticket sold out. ... Unfortunately, HahooGuru will
again tell the reality that there were no real cinema viewer ...
LOL... Its just an example, think, such things will happen in the days
to come if CIAA moves its actions much ahead. GRJ's son will
run DRJ Productions, and the same way CW'S son showed his
trekking industry without a single trekker to make Rs. 1 crore.
hehahhahha ... kati hasne bhaneko .... Ritu, will come and
justiy that in fact, DRJ has made such movies and earned a lot
by selling DVD versions of those movies, how GRJ a school teacher
became Joint secretary of ruling party and strong Home Minister....

Girijale Lauda kanda ma khaeko ghus nikalyo bhane only then I'll believe on the act of CIAA.

Otherwise: hatti ayo hatti ayo fusaa!

CIAA is giving time to all corrupt politicians to make their black money white.

Surya Nath Uphadhya says they ar busy right now and they will step towards politicians.

Khai, ... ... ...
