After living here for a year, I wonder what is so special about the U.S. that people back home in Nepal want to move over here. I know the first answer will be $$dollars$$. But can we , Nepalelse, not work to improve our economy. Is running away from the problem the solution? Hell no! We have democracy in Nepal. SO we the general public have some say in the government as well. If we, Nepalese Americans, so much respect the American form of government and the way they work, why can we not raise our voices and do something to make our government the same? The answer is we are pussies nothing else. Too scared to be the part of the solution. Don't say no cuz if you weren't scared you wouldn't be here, you would still be in Nepal working for your matribhumi. Unfortunately that is not the case. IF you think I am a hypocrite the hell with you. I am here because of my parents and because I am a minor. And when asked to pay for my tickets to Nepal, I was told they wouldn't pay a rupee for my education if I go back to Nepal. Moreover My written Nepali isn't that good and I probably will not be able to relate myself in a Nepali school. The first thing i will do when I have some money is go back to Nepal and kick all those m'f*** so called corrupt leaders and politicians of Nepal. It's a pity that we have had a Prime Minister who had studied no more than SLC. How in the hell will someone with a 10th grade education know how to develop a country. Moreover that particular guy happens to be a big corrupt leader. We Nepalese are pathetic aren't we? We call ourselves the brave gurkhas but we are no more brave than a sewer rat. This to all the students who are in different colleges in the U.S. You all are fools to be spending thousands of dollars for ur studies over here. Why dont' u just study in Nepal? Don't give me that shit about how bad the education system in NEpal is. Why in the hell don't u do something about it then. Instead of spending all the money in some foreign institution donate it to the colleges in Nepal so that they can improve themselves. SStudents who are studying medicine here, Americans don't know about goitre, nepalese do. If you wanna be a doctor study in the medical colleges in Nepal. Yoou won't know the diseases of third world countries by studying in the US. and you don't get tylenol in nepal. ALl the Nepalese whether in Nepal or in the U.S or any other country, do something and i mean do something to develop the country. Kick asses of those corrupt officials do what you need to improve the economy of Nepal and may be someday no nepali will have to migrate in search of jobs and may be somday all nepalese will be able to travel around the world with their own money like these Americans do. Do something. This is a minor asking all the NEpalese buddhijibis to do something before it's too late. May God Bless Nepal. Jai Nepal!

anger leads to hatred, hatred leads to suffering and that to pain ..... as yoda preached ..... being part of the solution is a luxury in Nepal and not a choice. But I always maintain ..... change is permanent and hope it happens in Nepal for the better. Infact, jsut recently some high level officals got caught for bribery or something like it. Baby strides for now .... but some small move for an impoverished Nation, a giant leap for the future .....

This following thread proves it all Posted on 07-18-02 2:04 AM Reply his is an interesting piece I found posted on Chautari. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- nepal luxury living guide....dont go abroad lila kathmandu is so much fun. They have so many discoes where we can dance, bars we can drink at and resturants we can eat at. Nowadays the girls are allowed out too. Its high class life. I love going to the Galaxy disco at Everest, and then to Dynasty club. I pop a pil of xtasy(the drug), and dance all night. Once I went to Nagarkot and they had a rave there, can you imagine a rave in NEpal??I have lived in America for 10 years then I went back to Nepal it is so much fun there. The guys are so cool, not pakhe anymore. My boyfreind picks me up in a Jeep and then takes me to a resturant in a 5 star hotel, then we meet up with our freinds and go to Soaltee game room to play video games and gamble at the casino. Then we go to thr Rox bar of Hyatt on Fridays, everyone is so well dressed and cool cool cool. The in- crowd basically comprises of ex lincoln students, and other rich kids. We have the best cocktails with cigars. When we are bored we can drive up to Nagarkot and sit in a jacuzzi , or we can go to a resort in Shivapuri, which is near Budanilkantha , and get the best weed(marujuana). I can shop in any of the very hip stores on the third floor of Bishal Bazzar and get a real leather coat from Bally. Shoes from sacchi and sacchi at Don Marcello studio of the Royal Singhi Hotel . My friends are so cool too, we all meet up for happy hour, and then eat out at Italian resturants of Thamel. I dont have to deal with the need to run away to the US or Austrailia, I live life as any American 20 year old would live there. I dont know why everyone runs away b/c there is so much to do here. And no one makes fun of you b/c you are of a different race. You can play Golf in Gokarna at the Meridien hotel.Or chill in a sauna in Chitwan. WHy are you people running away?????? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted on 07-18-02 5:54 AM Reply

Whoever wrote that shit sure is one hell of a rich heiress. I have lived in Nepal for 16 years. I did most of what she said you can do it. I don't deny it. YOu can do it if you have money. i.e. if your dad has money cuz i know 20 years old gals don't go around working. Well a few of them do. .Well i used to hang out in thamel every friggin day. We smoked(everything. cigar being my best, and you can buy a cigar for just 45 nepali rupees and if your dad earns dollars 45 nepali rupees is less than a dollar), drank tequila, went to clubs; but golf, and jacuzzi in Nagarkot and all those resorts were way off limit for a guy like me. However, the girl is right about those smart looking ppl being ex lincoln students. Incase u didn't know, the tuition of lincoln school is more than $10,000 a year. OF course those friggin students will be rich enough to afford to drive around toyota landcruiser and mitsubishi pajero or even mercedes. Incase you guys haven't been to nepal lately, the number of mercedes cars have sky rocketed in the last few years. Not just that, there has been an increase in members of health clubs where they have world class spas. Just think about it, everything one has ever dreamt about getting is right out there in Nepal but unfortunately, it is not possible for nepalese ppl who earn NRS. 10,000 a year or even less. I don't know if all the immigrant who come here ever get to enjoy as much as they think they would be able to in America.. I pictured America to be something else. and the day I landed here, I had this terrible feeling I wouldn't love anything about AMerica and I was right then. Peace
