Did you read the news views on Karodpati Nepalis in America. Unfortunately, Sudha Shah was not in the list. Dhruba Onta, Mridula Koirala (the former news anchor at NTV), Mr. A. Shrestha ... The article says that there are NOT more than 100 Nepalis who have their own successful biz. (I wonder whether this data is real?). 50% Nepalis in America don't have permission to work ? Unbelievable. What about ANA 's any data base on Nepalis in America. Well, Mr. Gharti, Mr. Sukla ... who were shouting for dual citizenship and talking loud about investment in Nepal? How many out of those 100 biz. owner Nepalis will invest in Nepal? This is quite conflicting news report. Anyway read this article. HG

I know Dhruda Onta and Mridula Koirala have their own restaurant and diner respectively, but millionaires, I think not. But, there are quite a few nouveau riche Nepalis in the Bay Area who've made a killing with tech boom start-ups. Other than them, there are a handful of highly successful doctors and other professionals who fall in that category.

there are a lot of nepali millionaires in america alright.. they drive around toyota corolla and camry just to make other nepalese believe that they aren't millionaires cuz everyone knows how words spread in the nepalese community.. and if ppl in nepal know that they are millionaires ppl will be after them to sponsor for their green card... i myself know a few nepalese who drive around BMW Sports Utility Vehicle. I don't know the make and model though... if you think these rich nepalese over here will even invest a penny to improve nepal. you can keep dreaming for the rest of your life. there aren't any patriotic nepalese in the U.S. Just migrating to America proves that every nepali american is unpatriotic

Frank. I am sorry sir. I do not agree with you. You seem to have wrong perception of things. Most of the people who made money here have worked hard and they are more patriotic than you and I. Of course they have not invested in Nepal and have you asked them why? Firstly I have friends who do some import businesses from Nepal and I was happy to admire them that at least the money that goes in importing those stuff goes to Nepali People back home. Of course they do. But look at where it goes. most of the money goes to those people who are already driving around 50 Lakh rupees Pajeros or ministers. Have you ever been back to Nepal? As soon as you land at the airport those guys with Nepali topis with chuchho nakh( Unfortunately I have not seen anyon there with stubby nose in my 30 years of travelling back to Nepal. Go after you for money. In Nepal all your so called Patriotic People are working so hard to get Pajeros and Mercedes it makes you feel like giving them more of your money that you have earned working your ass off.

How do you know a Nepali is now millionnaire? 1. fFrank says: you drive BMW car. The Benz car that killed Diana costs $100,000. i.e. 1/10 of a millionnaire. an used car after 4th year (usually, these days car on 5th is no more useful for export to Asia or Africa) worths 1/5th of original price. Thus, you can buy a 50,000km run 5th year old Benz car in less than 10,000 dollars. So, this criteria fails. 2. MK / DO who have no time to return to Nepal for last one decade. If you are millionnaire, you probably have enough resources to return to Nepal in 3 day visit just the way Udit Narayan Jha does. Goes to KTM, then, rents helicopter and reaches his home village meet peoples and returns .... Rich peoples have seat in upper deck, as in Titanic Ship. The poors in Economy class. So, don't worry about time difference when you travel in Biz class. Well, once Singapore Airlines upgraded me to Biz class, I realized what Upper Deck means. . . . . . . . So too buzy is not a proof of being millionnaire. Well, I was in Amsterdam street to see the Nepali restaurant. The number of employees and size of restaurant was marblous. That gives me some indication that MK is really getting rich. Well, I was offerred free lunch set, and a beer bottle. Thanks to the owner. Gochiso sama. The size of the restaurant and number of employees should be an indication of the owner being millionnaire. MK was not working there herself, was just a manager and owner. Well, I missed DO's restaurant. 3. I met another Nepali at a Hotel/Motel. He even did not want to speak with me in Nepali Bhasa. He posed like Millionnaire. It happened in LA. But, thanks to the guy in NY'S Bangla deshi restaurant, who introduced the ... MK'S restaurant. He said there are about 10,000 Nepalis. I found MK's restaurant a bit in outskirt NY when you consider ManHanda (old name of ManHattan) the center of city. If MK can move to city center MH then its a great proof of herself being real Millionnaire. Anyway, NTV probably was a great training center for her in Public Relation. She is really good in public relation, and I wish she get more successes. 4. Criteria Four: How much you travel and meet people? Sudha Shah can be an example. My "relataive" says Sudha Shah was an intelligent classmate in ASCOL. She was really clever. So, who is clever, intelligent and risk taking to good PR and willing to work many hours are sign of being heading to millionnaire. HG

He said there are about 10,000 Nepalis. in earlier posting should be read as He said there are about 10,000 Nepalis in NY alone. .... But, there are less than half dozen Nepali "food" restaurant to serve 10000 Nepalis. Well, MK's restaurant is not Nepali Restaurant, but, it just qualifies to be called Nepali Owner's restaurant. Number of Nepali FOOD restaurant in London or in Tokyo were more than in NY, though the number of Nepali in NY is quite a big compared to Tokyo and London. To be millionnaire through restaurants in USA, target should not be Nepali customer (poor customers) but it should be different. Probably the idea of Nepali Restaurant in Tokyo or London use it: "Nepali and Indian Cuisine .... ". What surprised me once was an Indian restaurant named PUJA was close to my residence abot 1 km, and its owner was Pakistani. When I talked to him, he said "kya karu, INDO nahi likhu to ek customer bhi anewala nahi hei. ". Pakistani and Indian restaurant or Nepali and Indian Cuisine, or Bangali and Indian .... Unfortunately, the "Indian" word should always be BIG and Bold and other P B N are in likhute size. So, the report is true that NEPALI identity alone is not sizable to get to success, and you have to use brand "India" to get to success, and I guess its not bad, because even PEPSI uses COKE (not the vice versa) to sell PEPSI. I was in a city last year, there was a campaign by pepsi, asking peoples to drink two cups of that black water and tell the cheer girls that left or right side cup is delicious. Well, next day I saw a TV commercial that larger number of peoples preferred PEPSI in the drinking questioinnaire. Well, COKE never has to think giving wt. to PEPSI in the promotion campaigns. So, non-Indian south asians should exploit Indian Brands to get to success and become billionnaire. Well, they never sell "Hey I am indian, though. But, just annex a food of their identity that this is P B N food, ...." gradually trying to grasp own brands. So, doing biz of Indian or non-Nepali food is not a proof of not being non-patrioitic, but, preferably identifying yourself as Indian to sell Indian or Nepali food, is probably a sign of dignityless-ness . Few weeks back, I was in Ocean City having fun. Once as I was driving thru the main street, I noticed a sign for nepali, indian and chinese food restaurant. the restaurant was not an exotic looking one but i was surprised to see a restaurant with "nepali" word there in OC ( definately would've tried my lunch there had i seen that place earlier). HG, nepali, indian, and chinese all words were written in same font size, style, and color (red). In this case who needs to be in bigger and bolder size Chinese or Indian (i know nepali does not qualify for a bigger and bolder font) to make more money?

Incase you didn't know, I came to the U.S. just a year ago. So I pretty much know how it is like in Nepal. BUt j hos jaso hos, nepal is where I was born and Nepal is where I will die. IF there is anything I want real bad is Nepal to be developed so ppl don't have to migrate to other countries to look for jobs. N the first thing I want to really happen is the death of all those corrupt officials and politicians of Nepal. THe disparity of wealth is the one that is causing all the trouble in Nepal. If there was to be equal distribution of wealth may be Nepal would be better than AMerica.. ANeeways what is there in America except of limos and skyscrapers.. NEpal has everything- mountains which you can see from anywhere in Kathmandu or any other part of the country. beautiful sun rise, fresh air except in the cities.. however the morning air in kathmandu isn't that bad either. Of course one can go hiking to phulchowki danda anytime s/he wants. k bhayo ta if you have to take a bus to get there..atleast the bus fare is less than 10 rupees.. well if you have money you can even take a cab.. nepal ma bus chadna laaz lagney haru lai america ma pani bus chadna laaz lagnu paryo ni.. of course there is nagarkot. so what if we dont have the beach in nepal.. we have a lot of river banks and of course a lot of lakes- phewa taal, rara taal, they are just gorgeous.. ANd to be able to go and enjoy all these places you don't have to be a millionaires and billionaires like the Khetans, Golchas, Jyotis,etc..all you need is a nepali heart.l You know what our problem is ,, we know that those friggin ppl are looting our money but do we really care about it. we talk about it and curse them ..but have we ever ever raised out voices .. have we as the citizens of Nepal ever fought for our rights. well let's do it now b4 it's too late.

fRank bro, kata kata kura ta thik thikai chha. I will reserve a vote for you when are eligible to run for a public position. You gotta be an MP first to be a PM (unless you wanna be a PM first and then an MP within 6 mos). "nepal ma bus chadna laaz lagney haru lai america ma pani bus chadna laaz lagnu paryo ni.. " Ke lagthyo. Nepal ma cab ra afnai gadi ma huikini haru yaha bus ma bhada 2/4 paisa kam halna milchha ki bhanne dau herdai bhada majhna hinchhan. san sanga bhanchhan, "kam garna ke ko laj?" kooro ta thikai ho. Afaile afailai katti gali garnu. Gaf ta sabaile garchhan (ma pani kam chhaina) tara kam garne bela bho....back to square one. Uhi koora. Nepal is running high on Ugrabadi gafadis, we all know but running seriously low on true patriotic karyakarta. Afno lagi ta Nepal Bibahit purba premika jastai....samjhinchhu ramro lagchha dekhchhu dikka.
