Is there any university in US that accepts at Masters level from Nepal's 3 years BBS??
If they do, which and where are those universities ?? I have also heard that there are some bridge programs; How does that works ?? In fact, How many years it takes to complete Masters if you take at least 5 classes on each semester?? Please, share your comments.
Any suggestions welcome....

No,to be accepted in Masters,u should have passed 16 classes and 3 yrs BBS means u have completed only 15 classes. So,what I think is u'll get credit for 3 yrs of BBS program but u have to apply for undergrad level. That means u have to study for a year to complete undergrad, then u can enroll for master program.ANyway, don't know much about the bridge program.MAybe someone has answer for that.Just go to Kamal pokhari in US office (I forgot the name of that office, but it's the place where u go to take toefl and GRE test)and enquire about that.ANyway, best of luck!

Student,
Like another poster said earlier you need to have 16 years of schooling in Nepal (equivalent of US undergraduate degree) to get into US graduate school. In your case, you have 15 years of schooling ( 12 years + 3-year BBS program) which may preclude you from joining the graduate school; however, you can apply to US colleges as an undergraduate transfer student, and then get all the credits transferred. This may differ from school to school again. There are some schools which require that an undergraduate stay at that school for a minimum of two years to get his/her undergraduate degree while other schools may be flexible. Those schools would offer you a Bachelors degree within a year provided that you have satisfied all their core and elective requirements and all your course work from Nepal are transferred. I don't know the name of those particular schools, but you can get started in your research from here to find the names of those schools by going to USEF, Thamel or by visiting the listing of US colleges and universities at www.yahoo.com.

Sorry I don't know about those "bridge" program. The only program that I know that would help students to get Masters degree right after they finish high school ( read I.Sc. if you are in Nepal) is called Accelerated program, and it requires freshman to take sophomore level ( 2nd year) classes in their first year because these smarty-pants would have taken all those first year classes like calculus, physics I, english writing class, etc in their senior year of high school. I am not sure if a student coming from Nepal would have taken all those AP classes these days. Even if they do,I am not sure if all schools would let students transfer their higher level Physics or calculus class. Because I know that when I first got here, they would not let me transfer any of my classes though I had taken all those first year classes. This may differ if you have done A-level, because I know some of my friends from Budhanilkantha had some of their classes transferred to college work.

Your idea of taking 5 classes a semester when you are in graduate school is rather intriguing, at least for me. This could be fine if you are in undergraduate school because about 12 credits or 4 units a semester is a full-time work load and you can squeeze in yet another class to make yourself too busy and cut the party time :-), but in graduate school, well in my perspective, this may not be possible. You feel tired just taking 3 classes a semester, so I am not sure what to tell you when you say you want to take 5 classes a semester. Perhaps, the number of classes that you take in a given semester and the quantity of work that you have to do for those registered classes may differ from each school, so you may take your 5 classes a semester in some school, but I wouldn't know that school, Sorry. From my experiences, I believe that taking 5 classes would be just too much if you are in graduate school.

My best wishes are with you, Student, and I hope this info. helps.

later now.

Thank you guys ( Bideshi, Delta Famma, & Yatri) for your immediate responses.
I am not thinking about enrolling undergraduate because just like you guys have said most of the univerisitues make you to study undergrad. at least for 2 years. Seems like, I didn't threw my real case here earlier.
In fact, I am at the end of my Master's 1st year in Nepal, and I already have Toefl as well as GRE. Hopefully, most of the univeristy will accept me on this score.
However, my real confusion here is that I know US universities will accept me on Graduate through all of my BBS plus 1 year of my Master of Nepal.
On the other hand, even if I complete my overall Master ( 2 years of Nepal by the way I have only a year left from now) still US universities will accept me as a graduate student. My real question here now is..
Will these universites give me credit for my 2nd year of Masters of Nepal when I complete MS in Nepal??
Thinking positively, if they give me credit and transfer those courses so I won't have to worry about wasting time ( at least a year).
If not, doesn't make sense to me that if I get Master after my 1st year or 2nd year they will accept me as graduate student. ( I am saying these beacuse initially, some school will just accept you as a graduate student and later not only make you to stay more than a year also don't transfer those credit.)
Therefore, I need some specifice suggestions that how these had done in past in the case like mine.
All welcome>>>>

Student:

One extra year might not be a bad idea. first of all, you'll get a year .... well 3-4 months to find a college that suits your likes and grades. And chances are that you might get enrolled into a better program that you would applying directly from Nepal.

What's a year in the grand scheme of life ...... and you'll get a US degree that to most college adm officers are more understandable.

As for TOEFL, I don't think it makes much of a difference. a bad score merely means that they might make you take some ESL english courses.

It's the GRE that's at the heart of getting admitted. Nothing can substitute a GRE score, especially since the officers have little idea how tough it is to get over 70% in Nepal. 70% in most Us colleges (I hear) is a C average which is not hard to obtain. (ofcourse then there's big time curving of grade).

For example, Georgia tech chemistry normally averages hovers around 40- 50%. But the officers know their grading standard. So a low scorer from GT is better off than a high achiever from other colleges. But the same cannot be said of Nepali/Indian colleges. That's why I feel it's in your best interest to go for undergrad.

In short, apply to both undergrad and grad schools. Can't hurt ..... although the SATs is a whole new ordeal.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!!
