Hi,

I have a PAL system vidieo camera that i brought from Neapl. Of course, i can use this to take vidieo here in US but i can not see it in TV as my tv is NTSC system.

Is there any way i can convert the vidieo taken from PAL camera to NTSC vidieo cassete?

Any information on this will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Pal

Yes. Take the PAL video to a store which copies tapes. It is a simple matter of copying a video tape from one format to another, in this case PAL to NTSC. It is not very costly unless you get some cheater who thinks you have a lot of money. Tapes are usually copied a "by the foot" rate. You might have to wait a few days for your NTSC tape to come back. Then you can play it in the states. The other choice is to take the tape back to Nepal and ask a shop there to do it. There is a shop right in front of the Shanker hotel who does it.

PAL, there is another matter that should concern you. Although your PAL camera will take pictures in the USA, be careful when recharging the batteries for your PAL camera using USA electric current. The American standard current could damage your PAL camera's batteries. Then if you use them in your PAL camera, the battery could damage your camera.

Bill, good point about the battery chargin. Other than the voltage, current frequency differs too.
Pal, you can use a step up transformer (110V to 220V) which also takes care of the issues involved. They may be available in any of the electronic store chains, but its not an item that is carried regularly, it may need ordering.

If not, try the Indian stores, they may have them around too. A curious place to find step/step up/down converters, but its available there. These stores are great place to ask for where such a format conversion services are available. They have clientele who face the same problem as you do, and, as such, there is sure to be some desi video grapher(all those marraige parties!) or two around who can do this for you.

If you are using a multi-system VCR and TV, you can play back your PAL tapes. Higher end Japanese products are multi-system, but check the documentation of the vcr/tv first though.

There is a special decoder, that can be used to convert PAL to
NTSC and vice versa. costs about 100dollars in Japan.

Otherwise, you can buy CCD camera with video knub "tyo pahelo
plug k", I have Intel's CCD camera that works fine. With this you
need computer to see it. Well, nahune mama bhanda kano mama niko.
