Hey any of your midwesterners listen to the Prarie Home Companion on public radio? What do you guys think about it? I for one always listen to it on Sundays and enjoy it, but have still not been able to decide what is tounge in cheek versus what is real. They are obviously educated, intelligent and talented. But the humor and wit still feel strange to me. Maybe its a very regional phenomenon and living in say MN or ND you all have a different perspective on it? Anyone here familiar with that program?

i think it is bizarre that you actually live in the midwest and listen to prairie home companion. it is an indication of one of two things. either you're so self-aborbed that you have no clue where to end your enthusiasm ofpublic radio; or, you're such a drag that you have no real social life. i beg of you, please step out and live for once. see what is outside the confines of radio. that is why i have been trying to just work part time in support of NPR. hope this helps. love, juan williams

Juan, I don't live in the midwest, but do listen to NPR whihc I enjoy tremendously because it is one of the more unbiased sources of domestic and international news and cultural reporting that is not tainted by commercialism and product placement. As for your comment "either you're so self-aborbed that you have no clue where to end your enthusiasm ofpublic radio; or, you're such a drag that you have no real social life." Hey, I don't deny any of those! I am self-absorbed and love it. I love public radio, not apologies. I am a drag for some people and I don't give a rats ass about that. And I don't have much of a social life. Which works fine because not everyone is as amazing as MOI. Haha :) And no, your comment did not help. I still don't know anything more about the Prairie home campanion from your post. If you have some special insight into the program, please share it.

I must be from Lake Woebegone, cuz where I live, all the kids are above average. I think the PTA passed a law about it. Actually the funniest show I've heard lately on NPR is the quiz show on current events. They had PJ O'Rourke and Paula Poundstone the other day. Question: Why does Bush want to invade Iraq? O'Rourke's answer: Cuz he wants to have a war in a country that he has half a chance of being able to spell ...

Longest Thread! Hmmmm!!!1 anepalikt, APHC is awesome, I listen to it regularly and I am not in MW. You can listen to it in Kathmandu to Timbaktoo just go to www.kqed.org or any streaming NPR affiliates. "A Prairie Home Companion" with Garrison Keillor Contact Information A Prairie Home Companion Minnesota Public Radio 45 East Seventh Street St. Paul, MN 55101 (651) 290-1480 www.mpr.org, ... But, more serious question about your crusade to make it a longest threatd. Have you wondered what makes it a longest thread? What clicks in Sajha and what not? FYI: Longest thread so far: 1) 141 Postings : 'Nepali Men' created by Foxy on 7/23/02 hit by 8/14 2) 131 Postings: 'girls will you date me' by MadMax on 8/19 by 8/23 - this is a fastest grown so far (in 5 days) 3) 118 Postings: 'Prachanda Found Deat' by Anon on 12/14/01 by 7/13/02 4) 111 Postings: 'Famous Sajhaites - Gaijatra' by Logical Sense on 8/23 by 8/26. This has a chance to break the record of fasted grown.... So, what does it say? Most controversial? Most funny? Most bizarre? Apealinig to 40 and over, 30-40, between 20-30 or below 20? Interesting, hunh? Harey!!!! Love your expression NK!!!

Sounds like radio culture in Midwest is more sober. Here in East coast (and many parts of the country) we tune to Howard Stern every morning. Its the most pervert, dirty and stupid show that we like (may be after Crank Callers).

Thanks Logical Sense: For those of you interested in APHC: check out http://phc.mpr.org/ I agree with you, APHC is not "longest thread material". After I wrote that and dropped a few lines in some of the other threads trying to drive traffice, I realized the futility of this crusade. Oh well! Hey, anyone wanna talk about Howard Stern!

okay, here's the dilly. i think our very own nepalikt is an interesting soul, albeit somewhat mysterious; a missioned lasse with lotsa vigor. the thing i would like to learn about her is her whereabouts. where are you exactly to be so interested in the prairies? i recommend a quick jut to kansas. or, a quick viewing of the "little house on the prairie." fill us in on you and i may be able to offer you with some really useful informaiton others have failed to provide. as you know, i just completed my reporting of the american heartland, scurring down the grand ol' muddy river. more shall come in due course of time. love, juan

Do you have to live in a place to be interested in it? I am interested in APHC because it is so quintessentially American! So unlike the image of America as the cultural void populated by cookie cutter drones who hang out at malls and (sorry Suna) listen only to Z100 or whatever jingle is served up on the dial by the same giants who give you 500 calorie happy meal. Haina ra? I have no real desire to go to the to kansas and I never liked "Little House on the Prairie". Did do the cross country thing once and I am still trying to recover from corn fields. And I didn't know you were in America's heartland and took a trip on the Mississipi. Did you, really? What for? Or is it your name and I just am not getting the cultural reference. Ke ho? Bhana bhana.

i'm juan williams and i work for npr part-time. rest of the time, i work for the fox news channel. anyway, recently i made a trip down from minnesota to new orleans zig-zagging through all the random towns in between covering upcoming elections. in the process, i traveled through heartland praries and enjoyed them very much. okay, having stated so, i would like to extend my pleasure in knowing that you enjoy our program. anyway, generally understanding where a person resides helps in determining their exposure. what college do/did you attend? that may explain interests that you may have aquired in process. understanding an overall ambience a person is exposed to helps me assess the subject and provide appropriate information to support your needs. i would like to reassure you that i'll be able to furnish you with information that will quench your thirst. i promise. :)) lovingly, juannie baby

to the read a-hole connoiseur - there, there. ABCD-azz. you feel privaledged that you were born here? when did ya'r ol' man jump the boat? as for your plethora of references to bungholes, one would wonder the reason. is it that you are putting on a facade to blurr your inner need to be fondled by old white men in their early- to late- 50s? regardless, a few sessions on therapy may indeed be of great help. what can i say, just a good old samaritan here.
