Well to be able to terrorize a country like that, you cannot be stupid! Or at least the people on the top arent. The Maoist leaders fought along with the communist and cangressi of Nepal, to get a parliamentary govt. then after they got the deal from the king , the maoist leaders went underground, saying this is not what they wanted to acheive. In Less than 10 years, a third of Nepal in under thier control, they have acheived alot of things , on the path to their goal.....
They even had a huge mass meetign in the middle of Kathmandu with a tremendous audience. they may or may not ever succeed in attainign thier goals, but they are not stupid, b/c from underground activities they have gained tons of support, and been able to give a huge headache and scare to the present king, and the cabinet!

i don't think this thread's about whether maobadis are clever enough to pull off things like blowing themselves up while making bombs (see today's headline). i think it's about (thread originator, please confirm) whether maobadis are wise or stupid in their choice of means to achieve their ends. in less than 10 years, maobadis have unwisely taken nepal backwards in real terms of development. i call that being stupid, mean, and truly wicked.

people are answering stupid or not in terms of how they look in thier photo.We will have to see what Rekha says. I think Maoist are stupid, in terms of what stop equivocating says, b/c we have to spend so much on building the bridges that they destroyed, and all other stuff they bomb!

If maobadis were smart they would not use the villagers and children as human shields, they would not loot banks, they would not forcefully rob people (by taxing them), they would not skin people before killing, they would not kill people just because they belong to another party. If they were smart they would not win people by threat.
There are so many things I could think of nothing tells me that they think of the nation or the people. All they think is of themselves. Now maobadis have plenty of cash and plenty of girls. They are busy enjoying the power of the gun and power of cash. I am not saying that they are stupid but they are not smart either.

I don't think a part of what Id....said is right. Lot of them (who have become the part of the maoists) don't even have a decent meal, leave alone having a place to stay & gurls ...They don't have comfortable clothes & slippers... They live like nomads, atleast nomads know where they are heading. But them they just move from place to place (jungle to jungle) living in fear, hunger, away 4rm their lovedones & comfort of home hiding 24/7. Probably, sometimes they just have to sleep cold, with rain dripping on them during monsoons. So, even them, they r not having easy life. Most of them have good values, good heart...& good thoughts. Prolly, some of them would offer to carry an old lady's woods/ (bhari) if they would see her on the way than some of us here would do.
Just that they've been obliged to use vioilence (at times) to be a part of the group that they've chosen to live & die for. U think it's an easy life for them. Nah. They've sacrificed their families & the world for the cause they believe in. So in my view, if seen from their poin of view, I don't think they r stupid. Coz they've gone for what they believe in.

So it is easy way to pull out their legs from telling terrorist to revolutionaries those who promise to fight until their death against to those corrupted criminals. Giving life for something is not a joke; you must have brain, courage, devotion and believe. If you have only a brain, and don’t have a heart then revolution doesn’t work.
You must have both.

"Low level ARMY" whether in govt. or in rebel groups, are usually a bunch of
skin heads, who are asked to follow the order. Its leadership that defines the
lower level staff are idiot, generous, nice or worst. In Nepal Police, why
police are not good? Because the leaders Hawaldar to IGP all have motive of
earning money and getting promotions only. Similarly, in Nepali politics
whether in Maoists or in NC or UML or any other communist party to RPP and
Sadvawana Party. If leaders are good, their cadres will have better performance,
even if they are skin heads, and leaders have lost their brain, then, the
dedicated "initially good motive" peoples will turn out to be corrupt and its
happening NC, UML and Maoists too.
Only day before yesterday, the ANNFSU(Maoist) leader Devendra parajuli's
was found in money lending biz. and the money was collected from public in
the name of Nepali Maoism. I wonder how much money the Maoist leaders
have deposited in Indian banks for future use, because we all know the
Maoism is just a unfulfillable dream of Maoists, and Maoist leader also knows
it very well. Its just a part of Game Theory and they are competing to be
who can be worst, when you find your doors for being "who can be best" are
all closed.

I do not think that they are completely stupid, but all of you made them stupid indeed. Birendra could be killed, why this Gyanendra could not be killed with someone's triger. So, revolutionary is stupid, there will not be any change in the world. Birendra was killed and there is another king, was that revolution? Was there fundamental change? If you advocate for change, let's think that we need revolutinary spirite, but not like June 1st 2001.

the maoist may be stupid may not be stupid but one thing is for sure they are all khuskeko nepali haru.. they want to end poverty and there they are in the middle of bardia or somwhere bombing bridges. .doesn't matter whether they look smart or stupid in the pictures.. they are fools for sure. they might seem like patriots to those who believe that the maoist would make nepal a prosperous country but as far as i can see and understand, they will f*** up the country worse than the congress or the communist or the raprapa
