One afternoon Sameer and I were heading New Road. As we were slightly descending to approach Jaya Nepal Chitra Ghar from Nagpokhari, we saw Inde struggling on his old Hero bicycle to leave that slight ascent (for him) behind. Now, who is Inde? Inde is Indra formally but for his friends and enemies (who is left behind?) he is Inde. He was a good student. We grew up in the same tole. He was four batch senior than me in school but still was Inde for me as well. Recently, he graduated from Tri-Chandra in 1st div. with decent marks and was desperately looking for engineering scholarship abroad.
Inde saw us. Got off from his horse and asked with a sweet smile, "Ye mu** ho, coke khane ho?". Inde once in a while- in aausi purne - used to offer tea in chabel near Binayak Studio if he thought a girl smiled at him while casually but deeply checking out Urbasis in that chabel chowk every tuesday evening. But coke? and for what? We gave him a "why" look. He said, "Ma&^%$ Rurki ma selekt bhaira yaar ma ta".
Inde went to Roorkee. We were (sameer, me and many other bhate nalayak friends) still wandering around in ktm. jhyal jhyal herdai. Inde used to come home from Roorkee every Dashain and would tell us about his life there. He once told us a joke which is the best joke ever for me. I wish I could post that here. Anyway,he was in tole in his third Dashain Vacation. We went to Dhobikhola ko pool in chabel ringroad and sat on the bridge and started to talk smelling once in a while dead animals and what not below and around, courtesy of *fresh* breeze.
Inde said there were a bunch of Nepalis in Roorkee. Once they went to Delhi in a fun trip. After being here and there they all went to a store 'cause it was too hot to hang around outside in that very hot summer day. Since none of them was interested in buying anything there they all resorted to the second business - sundari saundarya rasaswadan. After few minutes in the store Hari cheerfully spoke, "kya chwank aaimai re chha mu**, herna tyaha". Hari's eyes were glues to a woman who was busy looking clothes not too far from them . She could have easily heard Hari cuz he was speaking in his patented loud voice. Other dude cautioned, "bistarai bol mu**, sunli tero bajai le". "Sune jh@# matlab? Nepali bujhne haina kyare" Hare spoke again. This time woman turned around. "La ma@#$%^, yo ta sanjya dai ko srimati yaar", Prakas spoke. "Ko m*** sanjaya dai?" Hare asked. "Chup lag bhanya ma*&^%$" Inde warned Hari. Sunil said, "oo mu** sanjaya dai pani tyahi re chha". Ramkrishna said, "sunyo hola mu**, pakkai sunyo la ma@#$%^, hyaaaa". " Man pari nabol bhanya mu**", Prakas warned Ramkisne. They all got out of the store as soon as poosible. All were laughing hard once they came out of there. "mu** manpari nabol bhandai ooi mu** manpari boli ra bhanya" Ramkisne looked at prakas.
They went back to Roorkee. All of them realized this "man pari speaking" habit is getting out of control. So, they all came up to a conclusion. Let's abandon all these manpari words. Inde suggested, "OK, let's do godan [cow donation ;)] and quit all these manpari words". They all agreed on how to do godan. One was to go to the sink and speak out the manpari word for the last time then do a *kulla* , speak out another manpari word that he wants to quit for the last time then do a kulla. So, a kulla was like a godan. A kulla for each man pari word. They all formed a line for godan. Hari went 1st. to the sink. Spoke out "mu**" . Did a kulla. "Ma$%^&". Did a kulla. He went on. Next was Prakas. Some dudes did many many kullas some did just a few but there was no one in their group who didn't do at least 3/4 kullas. Ramkisne was last in line.
"la ma$%^&, kina feri line lagya?" Ramkisne asked Hari when he saw him standing in line after him. Ramkisne had not done any kullas. Hari didn't say anything. "ek dui wata lai kulla garna birsis ki kyaho ye mu**?", Ramkisne asked again. Hari did not say any thing. As soon as Ramkisne was done doing kullas, Hari hurriedly did a kulla and said, "Asadhye khas khas bho yaaar...jibrai chalen..tyahi bhera euta "MU**" chahi counter kulla garera fukai ra..."mu**" bhanna pauda ni kya aananda aako."
Quickly all of them were in line once again for " manpari fukaune kulla". Ke garne boli lyako kura!!!!

DEEP DAI, another refreshing story for a VERY BUSY DAY ;) yaps!!! it finally looks like, i have to cut down on sajha..but couldn't resist on this one..
deep dai, yesto khal ko RASTRIYA BHASA ta hami nepali daju bhai ko alaukik parichan nai ho ni hoina ra? has utcha, once i tried to, but i sound funny re ;) kyarnu, tol ma dherai hang out pugena jasto cha !!
REally really really enjoyed this one....kudos to ya!

Nice one brother. I liked it. and i feel like expressing my first days when i was learning to use those kinda words..
may be some seven or years ago i joined gyanodoya in the eight grade. My unlcle used to go there and so i went there..Almost all of them in Hostel had their father Lauhre either in British or in Singapur..Though the place where i came from was not 'gaun' but a year later when i come back to hostel from my home, i would say to my friends " gaun ma tanna mooj gariyo" and thats the way it was to visualize the places which are not in Kathmandu valley to my friends. Even Dharan was kinda gaun for us.
So here i was in Gyonodoya and the peoples were all different, different eyes than mine, different kinda nose and different kind of language. before coming to Gyonodoya i never said Mac*&*^ or Ran&*^% . I wasnt ready to use those words. sojho keta. C.P mainali ko chora was there to help me to use those words in a proper way." chinta nagar ke mooji, ta ghar ma kura garda yasto word haru niskidai na ke." i wasnt sure about that. so i asked " sachhi ho mainali. " ho mooji ran#$& ko Ch#^*" so I accepted my new culture.
By the time i graduated from Gyonodoya i was master of M , R ko choro and L words...and yea like mainali said i never let my tongue slip at my house though.

Dedicated to jira bhunda ma ta jhunnai chana bata khasya jasto bha. Tyo aailey ko bhunda aulee nabhujheny bela ma filim silim herda suru ma awunthyo nee (dedicated to falano late...), keetab pudhda dedicated to my bajey/bujjai. So, I always have this impression that when someone use this word 'dedication' to refer something, I used to think that he/she is probably chilim. Tyatee ley matra mutu ma dhyangro thokya ho. Otherwise, it is nice to be remembered. Taaara ko yasto hoanhaar use hundo rahecha, malai ke tha ta!!! bhunchun nee - "aja mailey taaara dekheidee, taaaara dekhey.
Jhun M*** lai tara dekhaidee bhunya ta Double Jepoardy purya jasto..tyannga tyaang toong...

Glad you guys stopped by.
Jira, dedication can be done for living or non-living people/things. Next time, I hope, you will remain in your room instead of going to the roof and fall from there in your thought as soon as you find something dedicated to you. Relax.
Eventhough, I have neither done badhne nor fukaune kulla but still I am staying away from my 'kanyanue' words in this reply.

Paschim once mentioned about ‘twenty (?) things you must do in life’ he received in his junkmail. Fall deeply in love with somebody once…trust in God but lock the door of your car…
I think we can safely add one more- spend a season with plenty of swear words.
Those who have not done it have not tasted what a pleasure living is.
Deep can testify it.

I like reading Deep's stories (except for Ranga ko Masu, because I am fan of Momo Cha). I enjoy the way he use words M***. Once, these words were like verbs to me, without which, my sentences became incomplete. And, when exact words did not strike my brain, I always relied upon these M*** words.

I wanted to comment on this story right after I read it but here I am. one week later.
Deep, I found the story quite funny. :) Do you still talk like that ? Verb, noun, adjective. wow! I never knew these words were so dynamic and versatile.
