Hi Biswo, Thanks for your movie recommendations. If you can, send us original video cassettes, and, that way, we can work toward having a better video library and we will also give you credit at our screenings. Meantime, thanks to the hard work of Neeraj Nepali, Surendra Sthapit, Sanjog Rupakheti, Rajiv Dawadi and Arjun Gurung, three movies we at the Kathmandu Film Archive are showing are: THE CRANES ARE FLYING (1957) Russian with English subtitles. Directed by Mikhail Kalatozov This movie caused a sensasation at the Cannes Fim Festival May 23 (Wednesday)@ 6 pm PREM PINDA Yadav Kharel's movie adaptation of Sama's play. Courtesy: Yadav Kharel himself. After the movie, Kharel will answer questions. May 24 (Thursday) @ 6pm ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER This is THE movie that beat "Caravan" at the Oscars last year. Spanish with English subtitles. Courtesy: The director Pedro Almodovar himself from Spain. Hi Biswo and others, You can send us video cassettes through people leaving for Kathmandu from the US. A friend from Minnesota is sending some cassettes to us this way. We are especially keen on building a solid movie library so that we can share te movies with other non-profit organizations.
